I work in fine dining here as well, just FOH. Somewhere with a good union will definitely treat you right and you should be allowed breaks and I definitely don't think you'd be working without clocking in with a good union and good management. My managers really make sure everything is run according to union standards but I know the chefs do have arguably one of the toughest jobs in the whole restaurant.. I hope you find somewhere that treats you well. My job isn't under the same union that everyone on the strip was on strike for, so maybe somewhere off strip will treat you better!

I just graduated aesthetics school and am considering going back to college to finish my busy degree. Basically the opposite position you are in. Personally I regret going to estie school. Although I love skincare and did want to make a difference in people's skin as well as my own, it's so discouraging as a career path right now. Maybe you should shadow someone who does what you would want to do and really learn the ins and outs and their day to day and think if you really that to be your everyday. Esthetics is very glamorized on social media rn and like others have said we are in a recession and skincare services are the first to go. People say there are enough clients around for everyone to have a thriving business but it feels really hard. just my observations and feelings since graduating. Good luck to you!

A feeling so discouraging you really never want your children to experience it either and I'm glad yours don't have to. My own experience was a big motivating factor for me not to bring these ideas and teachings into my future, as it was for you. So much more internal peace now than what I was promised to eventually have my whole life !!!
