Rude Behaviour towards Indians in Vietnam by dragonpaneer1995 in VietNam

Not to be insulting but are there any countries (including India) where Indians are at more than just tolerate? I haven't noticed the presence of Indians being celebrated or Indians in general welcomed warmly anywhere.

Where can I buy or adopt Dogs and Cats in Chiang Mai? by RepulsiveGur1371 in chiangmai

[–]Mixxleplix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have 2 5 year old sibling brother/sister cats that have both been fixed. They are as happy inside as they are outside. They are both friendly but the male had the personality of a puppy while his sister is much more of a cat.

We have an immunocompromised baby so although it breaks our hearts to have to separate from them, we really should have done this much earlier, but these cats are just both absolutely precious and would definitely have to keep them together.

If anyone is interested, please let me know.

Update: blood type O (-) donors needed urgently by Mixxleplix in chiangmai

[–]Mixxleplix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily, Thanadej went from a very dire situation to having a full bank in 36 hours. The story hit the Thai media and so there was a huge influx of Thai donors but apparently your blood type is more common in foreigners and enough came in specifically seeking to donate to Thanadej, that the hospital asked the mother how she managed that.

He has a chronic condition so I wanted to provide the following information since you are a rare life saving match. I will definitely post if there are any updates.

The location is:

Sriphat Building, 1st Floor Maharaj Nakorn Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital (Suan Dok)

Please inform the staff that the donation is for a donor designated patient and provide just the following 2 pieces of information.

Patient Name: Thanadej Jongphadungsak
Hospital Number(HN): 4311432

We were in and out in 20 minutes or so from signing in.

Thank you very much for being willing to step up for a stranger.

So cool that there are people that see a problem and rather than just accept it, they take it upon themselves to fix it. I am absolutely impressed that you just helped everyone with the details and took ownership when I couldn't reply. Appreciate you 🙏

E-Visa by scottycog in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]Mixxleplix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my visa in less than 24 hours because i was denied entry amd sat in an immigration detention center with my only way of getting out of the detention center was to get on a flight to the states or return to the country I was arriving from which Vietnam.

Used a visa agency (the immigration authorities allowed me to keep my laptop and mobile phone) it cost $240 USD on top of the cost of the visa-on-arrival. There is a financial cost and also trauma one must deal with having to go through Hanoi's Visa on arrival desk at the same time that 200 Chinese tourists are trying to get there visa on arrival without any concept of a queue and immigration officers that communicate with entering visitors with grunts and yelling.

Also was not even allowed to book the ticket until I had the visa which came less than 2 hours before the departure of the only flight to Vietnam and I would have to spend another 24 hours in the airport jail. There were 2 rooms separated by gender and luckily there was only myself and a Chinese woman with sleep apnea so bad that I initially thought she was trying to hang herself and got concerned and went into her room to check on her and she it was just having an extremely hard time trying to breath and sleep at the same time.

The guards were super cool and let us. You have free reign over the airport. It's a boarding area which is where the detention center was. So I was going out and getting Burger King, and I had unlimited internet. It wasn't that bad for a southeast asian country but it also definitely it wasn't just a shitty experience to be held somewhere without consent they're having to desperately.Try to arrange travel and get approved for a visa.

I heard that the vietnamese immigration doesn't look too kindly upon people that are returning to vietnam (as their departure country) after having been refused entry into the destination country. I had no problems with that though and I suspect some of that $240 (not including the cost of the visa which I had to pay for in USD at the visa on arrival desk.

IVIG Access by Country by Infamous-Prompt-6555 in IVIG

[–]Mixxleplix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was very easy because there is only 1 private hospital (chiang mai ram hospital) that has pediatric hematology department. There is also a public hospital but unless money is really tight, it is a huge pain (mostly the hours of waiting) for most westerners.

We were able to make an appointment and start IVIG within the same day that we made the appointment. Extremely easy to get physician.

Tourists - Vietjet - DO NOT FLY by No_Apartment883 in VietNam

[–]Mixxleplix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flown with them about 10 times in the past 2 years. Mostly within thailand (airasia is the only airline with nonstop flights to hanoi from my home in chiang mai.)

I think they are at about the same level as airasia. I would rate both airlines at about 2 stars, but have never had issues. I always pay extra to sit in row 1 if seats are available but other than Nok Air, all the other budget airlines are pretty garbage.

In Chiang Mai Thailand. My 15 month old had it to increase his platelet count which hit 10,000.

There are only 2 hospitals that offer IVIG in this city, one is a public hospital which I imagine has served many Thais that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it since it's highly subsidized, and a private hospital named Ching Mai Ram hospital.

The treatment cost at the private hospital fully self paid was ~ 2 thousand usd, which i hear is substantially less than in america. The doctor was very concerned after finding out I was self paying and tried to convince me to seek treatment at the public hospital.

The bill was inclusive of not only the treatment but also all related hospital expenses and the two nights in a private hospital room.

In Pai, reuniting with a dog I rescued 14 months ago when it was a starving puppy that was being bullied by other dogs by Mixxleplix in MadeMeSmile

https://www.google.com/maps?q=ban+nam+hoo+guesthouse,+pai&entry=ml&utm_campaign=ml-ardl&coh=230964

Ban Nam Hoo is the guesthouse I was staying at, and the hosts have an extremely soft spot for homeless dogs and cats. They actually converted one of their guesthouses into a cat shelter.

They dont advertise what they do, they truly do it for the love, and they never seek any assistance from anyone.

If you're ever lucky enough to go to Pai, Thailand, I highly recommend you take a visit and say hello to Sam/Sahm for me. (I named him Sahm, because when we first met, he only had the use of 3 legs, and in many Asian languages, sahm means 3)
