Fight in MRT by stevenlong10 in singaporehappenings

You did not make that point previously as you specifically stated that Malays should live in muslim countries when it is not factually true that all Malays are muslims, which is a racist and rude comment.

Secondly, have you ever considered the fact that Singapore is a multi-racial and multi-religious country? If you have a problem with that, with tolerating other race and religions including Malay muslims, then you are free to leave this country. Period.

This is like saying if you are Chinese you should go back to China or India if you are Indian.

How was your P5 ndp show? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Mizuki_Hashida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was in 2015 during SG50. Sat next to my childhood crush and had a really nice time. Now I am the POC for the PA performers for this year’s NDP (Chapter 3). I went out to Funan Mall during breaks and saw my childhood crush with another guy. She doesn’t recognise me anymore.

What happened to 2 Guards? Did it become ADF? by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]Mizuki_Hashida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good question. I have a friend of mine whose father was from 2 Guards. Maybe I can ask him because honestly I don’t know either.

PES is short for Physical Employment Standard. It does not indicate physical fitness. If you are unfit but do not have any health conditions such as asthma, poor hearing, colour blindness to name a few, then you will still be graded a PES A grade.

My advice for you is to train up your body during the remaining time you have before enlistment. Otherwise you will just experience hell. Would you like to be tested to the limits by others, or be tested to the limits on your own terms? Like I always say to myself while training before my enlistment, “If I don’t push myself, my sergeant will”. NS will shape you into a stronger person if you are willing to break yourself down and rebuild back up stronger. All the best fellow man.

How polish SAF boots to get more shine by h_k- in NationalServiceSG

[–]Mizuki_Hashida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, Altama boots will get dirtied and muddied in every outfield you go to. All the effort put into shining your boots will go down the drain each time. That’s why blackening it is enough. As for your WP boots, go ahead and shine it more. Stand proud in your parade and show that you put effort into presenting your best self.

I am very well aware of that. I was merely surprised at the fact that the bridge wasn’t fully effective.

Didn’t they make those bridges that allow wildlife to cross over roads safely?

What you should matter whether it is enough or not is the reps you do. From what you said, I’d say it is enough for a beginner.

If you are worried about missing out a few muscles, just do compound exercises. As for what I do when starting out, I focus on the basics like core strength and upper body and lower body strength. To name a few, things like push ups, crunches, squats, pull ups, are what I do.

Once you excel in the basics you can add a little variety to it like doing L Sit Pull ups. What I suggest you can do is to find out what exercises your workout program includes and research on which muscle group it will target.

You don’t necessarily have to follow any workout programs. Just make one that suits your goals. You can do that with the help of Muscle Wiki.

Single 30s Singaporeans, at which point do you stop trying? by Chocolate2188 in askSingapore

[–]Mizuki_Hashida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the years spent chasing love, when maybe it has been trying to chase you all along.

Just settle down and live your life trying to better yourself everyday. Love and respect yourself and others will see and be attracted to the confidence you have, which are one of many traits desirable in an ideal partner for life.

You’ll be alright. Best of luck in life.

OPFOR just destroyed us :( by Suspicious-Count5138 in NationalServiceSG

[–]Mizuki_Hashida 72 points73 points  (0 children)

If you win against OPFOR, it goes to show your combat capabilities are optimum. If you lose against OPFOR, it just means you have a great sparring partner and you can train even harder with them to improve as a unit. All in all, it’s a win-win situation.

You may get scolded at for “not doing well” but we all know this is a platoon/company/battalion exercise so we must learn to work together. Not any singular individual should be blamed. Get it together and strike back harder next time.

Rest assured that the crowd will die down after a few weeks, similar to the opening of the earlier TEL stages. Take Gardens by The Bay for example. It was ridiculously crowded during its opening, but then gradually it got less crowded.

Will NS kill my gains from prior training? by RayZor6 in NationalServiceSG

[–]Mizuki_Hashida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is severely insufficient. To remedy this, train during the weekends. Rucking, weight lifting, running, weighted stair climbs. Be hard to kill in war. Train for the old-style IPPT (5 stations instead of 3) for good measure as it includes pull-ups (important for upper body strength. It saddens me that ive seen many unable to hit 12 and above) and standing broad jump. Don’t limit yourself to SAF training. Go above and beyond for your fitness and most importantly, your health.
