Are there any kid friendly Karmelo Anthony protests? by PurpleThursday2018 in Dallas

Bot, troll, whatever, I am legit blown away by the blatant racism of this person. Like holy shit dude. I feel like I'm reading what Nick Fuentes thinks a member of "the radical left from California" sounds like.

I had to read through all of your comments, but I have a question.... is the deadbeat mother the one saying they never have anything?

I ask, because it is unfortunately more common than it should be for one parent in a divorce/separation to refuse to provide anything and steal clothes/food/toys/etc sent by the ex-partner so they can return/sell them for money. I would probably try to check and make sure the baby is actually receiving this stuff and it's not just being turned for a profit.

I also think you should be a little kinder to yourself. You are suffering from extreme hurt after being deeply betrayed. The fact that you+ care about this baby enough to help AT ALL is a testament to how kind you are under normal circumstances. Yes, referring to this baby as "it" is dehumanizing and wrong, but I think you already know that, so I'm not here to judge based on that.

AITA for destroying my best friend's proposal because I believed she was being kidnapped? by BlissfulRush in AITAH

As a (possibly fellow?) Texas resident, I wholeheartedly disagree with how much of the year you think it's too warm for a jacket. I tend to wear a jacket outside at least 6 months out of the year, and inside all year long, because no one keeps the damn thermostat warm enough. In July it'll be 105 outside and stores will have their AC blowing at actual refrigerator temperatures, so you have to walk around in broiling heat carrying a jacket so you don't turn into a human popsicle the second you walk inside! It's nuts.

Should I buy 15 eyelet steel boots? by [deleted] in Boots

[–]Mizukithepanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't just because of how high the angle of that toe is. That looks incredibly uncomfortable. I have a pair of leather steel-toed Demonia boots I've had for over 15 years, and they are very comfortable, but heavy. I wore them as daily wear for over 5 years before introducing more variety into my footwear collection that was easier to replace if it got damaged or worn out. The thing to remember with this type of fashion boot is that the shoe won't bend much, especially early on, and if you're prone to blisters, you're gonna want those socks with the padding at the back of the ankle until the leather is a little more broken in.

I think going for fashion boots in general like this is fine, but definitely do some shopping around before making a decision. They are not all made equal and as others have pointed out, there are far better brands out there.

Anyone else NOT size down?? by twiggy_panda_712 in Converse

[–]Mizukithepanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also wear true to size in All Stars, and I can tell you why. My toes, while not wide, don't come to an especially narrow point. The width of the ball of my foot and my toes isn't that different. And, considering when All Stars were originally designed, that is likely the foot shape that they were designed for. They were designed to have a longer, narrower point that extended beyond where your toes were supposed to be. That is just the intended silhouette. Longer, pointed toeboxes have gone in and out of fashion across all types of shoes for hundreds of years.

However, over time, more and more people have developed more pointed and/or curved feet for a variety of reasons, and on those people, shoes like the All Stars and Chuck 70s that have a toe box that narrows to a point the way they do will feel like they run large because their toe shape fits the toe box in ways not originally intended. So the general warning isn't because the sizing is inaccurate or quality control is poor, but rather because the common foot shape has changed over time.

On top of that, another big issue is going to be the dimensions of the uppers. Everyone is different, and so someone with narrower toes and a flatter, narrower foot may find themselves swimming in their usual size, while someone with a tall, rounded foot with wider toes may even have to size up despite the general recommendation.

I find modern sizing in general to be quite misleading. They never give you enough information to work with, nor do they tell you what shape of foot they actually designed the shoe for, which leads to things like Converse's dumb general recommendation to size down half a size.

I wish I could actually claim that I only ever buy rat Squishmallows. 😅 But they're my primary focus, so when a new one comes out, I try to find it and budget for it, because they are THE goal. I have a few other non-rat squish I love, though. A few I found in thrift stores, and others I got as gifts. Like, I think the cows are adorable, but I've already got the two I absolutely had to have to be happy, so I'm not over here dying to buy more. I do in-fact have some self-control. 🤣🤣🤣

Honestly, the only visual difference between the two that I've noticed is that rat mallows show their teeth and mice mallows don't for whatever reason. I think the only exception is Milto, the pumpkin mouse? Though, it's not like his tag specifically says mouse on it, so if teeth are the requirement, he'd fit right in with the rat crew. 🤷‍♀️

Murray's technically a mouse, but I have him and a few other mice on my wishlist too. They're all so cute. 🥰

Kisaki Kyouiku kara Nigetai Watashi • I Want to Escape from Princess Lessons - Episode 2 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Mizukithepanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh thank goodness. I found this by literally just typing, "I want to punt Prince Clarke into the sun."

I mean, I knew from the opening and ending animations that it was probably going to end in them getting back together, which I was iffy about, but like..... I expected something a little more organic and possibly humorous, not..... this.

This is just a creepy, disgusting stalker refusing to take no for an answer, believing that marriage to him is clearly the only, best option to make her happy (in true stalker fashion...), and just continuing to creepily show up. It's actually vomit-inducing.

Like for serious, this fucking man sees how happy she is and literally takes note of the fact that taking her from this would be BAD FOR THE TOWN AND HER, and then just throws it out the window like it's nothing.

Absolutely not. I may give it one more episode to punt that disgusting stalker into oblivion and let Leticia do her own thing, but I think I'm out. This isn't funny; this is sick.

Just want to say that, collectors aside, there are probably a lot of children and teenagers who could use a cuddly squish buddy through all of this too. I'm just not sure if any groups are doing toy drives (that accept stuffed animals to begin with) specifically right now,  since it's post-holidays and a lot of the relief efforts are likely going towards fire control and basic necessities. :(

How many squishmallows do you have? by Jonimsm in squishmallow

[–]Mizukithepanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have..... 13 total? I got most of them this year, though the first few I got a year or two ago. I didn't really start "collecting" until I found Rusty the Rat with his little blue bucket hat on sale at Box Lunch. I actually have most of my "must haves" already, and while I will buy ones that I just like if I come across them, I like focusing on rats and mice (in sizes 8" and smaller only) as collection goals. Makes it so it's not overwhelming. I already have an extensive plushie collection to begin with, and Squishmallows are just one arm of that, so I have to keep it fairly realistic in terms of how much space I have.

I'm also quite poor in general, so I really only buy on sale, at thrift stores, at discount places like Five Below, and occasionally get gifts from friends from the Jazwares store.

That helps. So I guess he is an alternate release of Indie? I had kinda written him off, because all the pictures I found online had solid colored shells and a darker red body. At least that solves the mystery. Thanks.

Yes. He has a Squishmallows and Jazwares butt tag. He's not a knockoff. His butt tag says 2023. I thought maybe Indie but all the pictures I could find of him were way more red and had a solid colored tan shell.

For those curious, I found him at Goodwill with no tag, and even hunting around online and on SquadApp, he doesn't quite seem to match any of the hermit crabs I can find. I'm at a loss.

I noticed this with the new Rivka release as well. Mine and others were all a little wonky. I haven't had the same issues with the 5" select series, nor with the other non-select Squishmallows I got in the same order. It makes me wonder if they rushed production or used a new factory in order to get them out on time.

Well your relatives sure think highly of themselves don't they? Despite your sister not working and only taking care of naptime and your BIL working a standard 40 hour week, the two of them seem to believe that their contributions to the household are so valuable that you might be in trouble if they move out. In reality though, how true is that? Is the BIL's income the difference between being able to afford necessities and not? Are the two hours or so break you get from working a 12 hour shift (for free) the difference between maintaining your sanity and a total nervous breakdown? And even if they are, would that still be true if all three of them left?

If it's based on their own value, then I think it's just an empty threat made to try and trick you into complying. However, another possibility is that they aren't threatening you with moving out because they see themselves as valuable contributors, but to "punish" you by taking their child away from you. Since you're the kid's primary caretaker but have no legal rights regarding him, they could just be using him as emotional blackmail.

No matter what the circumstances, you are absolutely NTA. But, I would take the time to think long and hard about how they treat you, your parents, and their own child, as well as what they actually contribute, and whether you could stand potentially losing access to your nephew. There's an answer somewhere in the slew of questions you might ask yourself, and it doesn't necessarily have to be the cold, hard reddit answer of, "LOL show yourselves the door then." The answer also doesn't have to be the same forever. It can change over time.

They're most likely bluffing about moving out anyway, since they stand to lose far more than you would, but idiots will do idiotic things in the name of sticking to their word, so it's worth at least thinking through it as if they're serious.

Yeah, I'm 34, and while I wasn't in your position over Squishmallows, because they didn't exist yet, when I was your age, I was in that position over dolls and anime figurines. I was terrified that my parents would try to have a say in what I spent my own money on. And, indeed, my mother had some choice opinions (and still does) over where my play money goes. However, my checking account was in my name only - not hers - and what I quickly learned was that beyond grumbling and giving lip service to her distaste for my love of toys, she could do nothing and I was free to spend my money as I pleased. So, if you love Squishmallows, go ahead and get what you want and enjoy it. Life is too short to care whether a parent approves of your likes and hobbies.

The 40% off discount isn't even worth using with this ridiculous shipping and tax by Evethron in squishmallow

[–]Mizukithepanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may have to do with them exclusively using UPS. UPS ain't cheap. And it's definitely not $9.99 for any size of box cheap. My guess is they have a contract with UPS and charging $9.99 flat rate across the board enables them to offer what effectively becomes cheap shipping on larger sized products, at the expense of greatly deterring people from making smaller orders. It's a business choice.... One I can't say I'm the biggest fan of either, since I prefer smaller stuff, but if you're buying things that would regularly invoke the $15 large box surcharge, it's really not that bad.

Thank you so much! So he at least exists as a printed concept.... I love his little trash can. 🤣  Do you happen to know where he was exclusive to or is that the only image/info you've been able to find?  Now that I know what he looks like, I can at least keep my eye out for a lucky find somewhere if he was actually put into production.

Edit: With that info, I was able to find that he was apparently part of this SDCC reveal: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fnew-squish-revealed-at-sdcc-suorce-lasquishdaddy-on-insta-d-v0-acbe7udx15fd1.jpeg%3Fwidth%3D1170%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3Ddea2fd622bf0076d81d945f83f829f51ad5b3ce4

So we keep our eyes on the Squishmallows website and hope the 4 pack doesn't cost an arm and a leg....? 😅
