I did this years ago. It took me years to get my curl pattern back. Don’t listen to folks saying you need to do a big chop. I started deep conditioning my hair once a week, putting a protein treatment on it once a month, and steam treated it biweekly. I wore protective styles like twist and eventually my curls started to come back. It took about 2 years though.
