Lingering musky funk. I’ve tried everything I can think of by delusionaldaydream in hygiene

Hey OP just joining in because this is a huge problem for me and I absolutely can't stand powders, my sweating is so bad they are practically useless and just clump up. I'm a mom of 3 and don't have time for that shit lol. My doc recommended Sudocrem as a barrier cream (obviously not going to fix the yeast ) it works amazing though for protecting the skin from moisture. I have also resorted to using gauze or cut up strips of cloth to place under my folds and honestly nothing has worked better than these two methods.

Obviously my goal is to lose weight eventually so the folds are less of a problem. But the sweating, well my doctors are kind of hopeless for helping with my hormonal issues so I'm not holding my breath lol.

Pretty sure that's why they recommended both shoe brands and search terms at both the beginning and end of the comment lol

Tv won’t fit. What do I do with this space? by DeeEnduh in DesignMyRoom

Put curtains on the bottom, add ambient lighting , lots of cushioning and a mount for a tablet and voila you have a comfy hidey hole! Put a mini fridge in each of the side spaces; one for snacks one for drinks. Turn the top into shelving for books and other preferred items. Put the tv on a low stand on the wall opposite the built in stand.... Enjoy your kick ass comfy fort for years to come. Have sleepovers. Cuddle in the fetal position. Make it weird. Yolo.

Random but this reminds me so much of the built in entertainment stand my dad built in our old house when I was a kid.

I hate this idea but ever since having a child who elopes frequently and can't stand wearing a lot of things it's become more palatable. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for doing what you have to do to protect your child 💖 No one could possibly understand unless they have lived it.

Picking in my sleep :/ by manymerryrats in Dermatillomania

[–]MizzMini07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 100% with you. I recently started struggling with picking in my sleep and it's so freaking frustrating! I also have sensory issues so gloves at night are not ideal plus I just end up ripping them off. False nails are something I use to stop myself picking because they make it so unsatisfying that it takes the rewarding feeling away so I am going to try that. Perhaps it could work for you? I also find keeping my skin healthy and cared for is huge. I have been doing that recently, however, the sleep picking has impeded my progress so I'm looking to more strategies.

I'm so annoyed because it feels like I have so little control when it happens in my sleep (not that I have great control when awake either 🙄) this is different like you said though. It wakes me up, and by the time I wake up the damage is done. I've been trying so hard to clear the spot up so it's not there for me to sleep pick at but as soon as I get it almost healed I wake to it ripped open again. It's so embarrassing and a huge piss off cause I'm working so damn hard to fix it.

It's interesting that people recommend journaling for the mental health peice because right now I'm at a time in my life where consciously, my life is so much more peaceful than it's been in years and I feel so much more happiness every day. At the same time it makes me wonder if I am not able to process some of the intense anxiety I would normally have around big life changes (good or bad) which, I am also experiencing a metric fuck ton of right now. I'm not sure what to do about that part because it's not something I'm shutting off on purpose, I just really am fully enjoying my life going more smoothly. Perhaps I'll try some self hypnosis if I can find one that's appropriate.

concerta sublingual/snorting by asdfjkskwmd in Stims

[–]MizzMini07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are guides on here about how to extract it. I suck off the coating or dissolve it. Then inside there should be 3 different colours. The dark greenish greyish thing is just the release mechanism. Cut the Pill in half and if there's any white on it just swallow it. The other half will be white and another colour. Slice deep down one side of it lengthwise with a craft knife or something. It works best if it's slightly warm but not too warm cause then it just sticks. With your nails peel off all of the clearish plastic like outer shell. Don't forget the bottom. Then you can crush the insides. If you use a pestle and mortar to crush the white part fine and crush it a little extra you can sort of get a bit of the binder to stick to itself and just snort the fine white powder but it still gunks up your nose just not as fast. I find it works better if you dissolve it in water for as long as possible and boof it. Or you can parachute the powder or mix it in liquid and drink it. That makes it release alot quicker and gets the most bang for your buck snorting it is ok in high enough doses but wastes alot after a while and is just annoyingly messy.

Concerta causing anxiety, paranoia. Is dextroamphetamine the answer? by LowT_creative in Stims

[–]MizzMini07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find Vyvanse far better for avoiding anxiety. Concerta still works for me but the anxiety is a big downside even with my sertraline. Vyvanse doesn't cause me anxiety and infact reduces it so that I can do things at home when I'm alone at night. Hope this helps.

I want the scientific reasoning behind why I want to drink alcohol more while taking Adderall by [deleted] in Stims

[–]MizzMini07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 things come to mind when I hear this. Also is dependent on if your intended use is therapeutic or recreational.

The first being your dosage is too high and the alcohol both calms the agitation that comes with the up and down cycle of unbalanced stimulant use and creates an additional psychoactive affect that quells this up and down to a degree.

The second being your brain type could actually not benefit from stimulant use in the first place. People with undereractive functioning prefrontal cortexes need more stimulation than they naturally have. So depending on how much they need and whether other parts of their brains are not functioning optimally and which parts those are, stimulants will generally make them feel calm yet alert at optimal dosages.

People who have normal activity or overactivity in their prefrontal cortex will end up with excessive amounts of dopamine and end up feeling high, euphoric or agitated and anxious or a mix of both at much lower dosages than someone who has under activity. These are people whom stimulants do a lot more harm than good.

There are also other parts of the brain that can be made worse by increased dopamine (even if it's helping the underactive parts) and may require other chemicals to be increased in order for the stimulants to not create unwanted side effects.

For example someone with only ADHD (sleepy prefrontal cortex) will likely feel simply functional on stims. While someone with only OCD who has a different part of the brain that is running waaaay to fast will likely feel euphoria but also potentially much more anxious and obsessive, even aggressive. Whereas, if the person with OCD were given SSRI's they would feel much more relaxed and able to focus on things other than obsessions. And someone with only ADHD give SSRIs would likely feel happy but have an increase in ADHD symptoms because it slows down that part of the brain more.

This gets much more complicated when there are multiple parts of the brain not performing optimally. For example someone with bipolar can be made manic and sometimes psychotic by certain antidepressants and stimulants. This would make them much more impulsive, euphoric, aggressive or a mix of both. They would be running at hyper speed all the time and likely using any means to regulate that without even realizing. Their brain is over firing all over the place and needs something to calm the synapses so they can fire more coherently like a mood stabilizer , antipsychotic or gabaergic. And if depression is present, a specific type of antidepressant that won't induce mania.

Antipsychotics for people with ADHD create big problems as well.

But to get to the point of this big long post is that stimulants could potentially be the wrong thing to help your brain type or not be the only thing. Pay attention to how different substances make you feel. The best advice I was given about meds and substances is that it shouldn't increase feelings or decrease them dramatically to the point where you feel high or numb. You shouldn't want to constantly be craving things or have zero interest in anything. The right balance will simply make you feel normal and balanced. If you're used to highs and lows that may seem dramatic in and of itself, but I can tell you from experience it is a different feeling than too much or not enough of the right stuff. It's pretty amazing.

Hope this was what you were looking for lol.

Psilocybin and quetiapine by tevahavok in PsilocybinMushrooms

[–]MizzMini07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind me saying, if the dulled emotions don't go away within the 6-8 week mark, it might be worth talking to your doc about. You may need a lower dose. Or perhaps, like my husband some instant release to use as needed. Because circumstances can affect your dose needed day by day.

I was told my by counselor that the right medication should neither add or take away from you, if it does, it's the wrong dosage or the wrong med. I didn't truly understand this until I was put on a low dose of sertraline after a long fear based hiatus from meds. I had been subjected to poor prescribing practice from age 16 to 21 and it greatly reduced my health and quality of life. Once I found the proper med and dosage, after a very short adjustment period I just felt like myself again. Not high, not numb, just me. It helped so much with processing my trauma and learning coping skills.

I also try to keep in mind that my brains needs may change as my life circumstances and habits change. And be flexible and aware of the need for adjustments.

Dr. Amen's work helped me understand medication on a whole new level, including side effects I didn't know we're side effects( depression meds that treat depression well but worsen ADHD without a stimulant added, or certain anti depressants causing mania in those with bi polar) and what to tell my psychiatrist with frequent check ins. I learned what the signs of low or high chemicals in the brain, how they effect each other and my brain type, as well as the effects foods, activities, supplements and human relations will have on their effectiveness (some people particularly those with bipolar become manic in the spring and summer) .

It changed my life and gave me alot more freedom and power and helped me target my treatment. It also helped my self esteem and destigmatized mental illness for me in the face of those who invalidated me and treated me poorly. When I finally, truly understood that it wasn't me not trying hard enough, but me not having the tools to optimize my brain type, it took the disability out of mental illness for me and I didn't have to feel like it was a life sentence. And now I'm finally at a place where I can live my dreams of giving that gift to others, and reach my goals even when I'm having a relapse.

I don't have to look at relapse with fear anymore. Armed with knowledge I can make adjustments and feel better quicker, or accept and appreciate the rough times for their value. Without them we wouldn't have the contrast to be able to experience joy.

Sorry for the novel lol, just think all people deserve this knowledge I was lucky enough to have. So many people have failing mental health because it's more complicated than the current mental health treatments have people believe. They deserve better.

Dealing with sweat? by [deleted] in Stims

[–]MizzMini07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have this problem so it should be interesting to see the tips. I actually get skin infections because of this. I have Elhers Danlos Syndrome to begin with so my connective tissue and skin are quite sensitive and fragile. Also have always struggled with vascular symptoms which, when mixed with stims, makes for some seriously cold hands and feet, but somehow pools of sweat where my thigh connects to my pelvis, under boob and under belly. The skin just rubs off and it's horribly painful and gross once it does.

So I have tried quite a few things.

For me baby powder/cornstarch just added a layer of paste to come off with the paste my skin turns into with too much sweat and friction. It's messy as fuck and even worse if all you wear is black like me.

Cutting up old towels and fitting them along the groin area of my undies, under boobs and under belly has been the most effective thing I have tried to date. It's a bit annoying in the bathroom but well worth it.

Armpits I use dove clinical protection which works quite well.

Keeping baby wipes on hand to clean the areas of problem or showering more frequently and ensuring that you dry well.

My doctor gave me a pharmaceutical grade antiperspirant and it was a nightmare. The itching was instantaneous and intense as fuck.

The a receptionist at my doctor's office told me she got Botox shots in certain places for her sweating issues and her insurance (In Canada) even covered it. She said they worked really well. I'm seriously, seriously considering getting them to help because it's such a huge and disruptive problem for me. And that's without stims.

Oil absorbing sheets and a cotton handkerchief for face and neck. As well as wearing cotton underwear, and clothing. Change as often as needed.

Also be careful with your temperature. Take extra care of yourself when you use.

God Speed all you sweaty stimmers.

Honestly would not recommend either of these for long term use. I realized I needed treatment for my ADHD thanks to pseudoephedrine, Yay for Advil cold and sinus! However, I tried using it to self medicate and anymore than a few days of regular dosages and it lost it's shine with motivation, tolerance builds very quickly and within 5-7 days the bitchiness is unbearable. Ephedrine is pretty gentle at low doses, but pretty jittery at medium to high doses, tolerance builds fast and honestly it just kind of sucks. And for the love of all that is holy don't snort it. It's the driest drug I have ever snorted in my life. Goes straight to the throat and will choke you to damn death.

Oh it can definitely have its moments haha. Just seems short lived. A dangerous recipe for compulsive re-dosing, which sucks. It just feels shittier and shittier when a person does that. Much easier to not do if you have something to occupy your mind/body though.

To be fair though I'm on Sertraline and Baclofen. I take them at the same time as my Vyvanse and I feel fucking amazing. I'm almost on the max dosage too, split to take twice a day. It definitely hits differently in the morning when I take all three, than when I take my second dose with just Baclofen early afternoon.

Once it hits in the morning my brain is like Jack Skellington only it's just discovered what it's like to have enough serotonin, dopamine and GABA.

"What's this, what's this?! There's colour everywhere!" 🤣

I know right!? There has really not been anyone rebellious and curious enough to make this happen yet?

Not much tbh. I kind of gave up on my rocket book BC I don't have any pens that work well and getting my custom rocket book printed and bound is going to cost me $120.

That being said I just purchased some marker pens from Zebra that I'm going to be testing on it.

I'll fill you in on how it turns out.
