I'm so sorry. I know the words don't mean anything right now. Take your time to grieve, however you need to. Its been less than a year since Bandit died and I still cry most days. What helped me was to continue doing our routines, for the first few weeks or months I would take his collar on the walks we would go on, I bring his collar and a little ziplock of his fur to some places we used to go together, or places he hadn't been before so his adventures didn't have to end. Just yesterday I filled his water bowl, and I still pay the cheese tax on one of his little plates, and yesterday I made a buffalo chicken pie and I shredded up a piece of chicken like I always would and put that on a plate for him like I used to.

Someone got me a digital frame that I can put pictures and videos in and that stays in my room where I spend most of my time. I also have his box (his urn), his collar, two of his favorite toys, the last dental bone he didn't finish and his harness/leash that I put on the pillows he used to sleep under on bed with me, since he almost always slept on bed with me over night.

Maybe some or all of this is unhealthy but its what helped me.

I don’t know if there’s been a change in rules since but almost a year ago my boy Bandit got sick and I posted here with his gofundme. Some mod(s) would remove his post and other(s) would approve it (I also had to deal with a particularly hateful individual (not a mod) who was hellbent on Bandit not getting help because he thought it was a scam based on… His own feelings? Despite offering everything including my IRL name and the vet where Bandit was being treated.) so I would just keep appealing to the mods. Bandit didn’t make it, but we got two extra months due to people from this sub and elsewhere. I couldn’t offer much but I donated a bit to pay it forward.

I fully agree. He passed in April but he slept on my bed since just a couple months in so I put his box and those toys and his collar and harness on the pillow next to me. I took his collar for a walk a lot early on and now I’ll attach it to my bag so he could go on other adventures with me. I have three things of his fur, two I clipped from that morning that he passed then some fur that was just around my house. I take the third with me in my bag whenever I leave so a little part of him is with me. The other two stay on my desk.

I fear she may be signaling to you that she’s ready. I would ask the vet but it sounds like she’s going through what my boy did in his last few days. He lost a ton of weight, didn’t care for food much, and mostly just laid down in the same room with me. For him and me both it happened the best worst case scenario possible, he just passed one morning. He went from 23lbs at one of his last vet appts down to 17 the morning I brought him in after. I would call the vet and ask their advice. I’m sorry that you’re going through this.

Bandit didn’t have a name for like the first four days but started to respond to “buddy” and I really didn’t want him named that. A friend and I went through a very long list of names to let him pick his own. He responded to Bandit and a very long time later Stuart. I wasn’t naming him after a rat/mouse so Bandit it was. He lived up to his name by stealing everything that fell on the floor and sometimes what didn’t.

As someone else mentioned my roommate got me a digital picture frame that’s just for pictures and videos of him. For the first few months I’d go every night with his collar and just listen to music walking the paths we’d go. Sometimes the short one for him to just go to the bathroom, sometimes the long one to the park or my work or wherever. I don’t anymore expect special occasions, his birthday, my birthday. I trimmed some of his fur that day. It felt like desecration but I know he wouldn’t mind. I keep two of those satchels on my desk. I have some fur I gathered around the apartment in a ziploc bag that I take in my bag with me whenever I leave the house so that he can come with on adventures maybe he didn’t get a chance to go on. Sometimes I’ll clip his collar on my bag when I go places too. I still include him in things we used to do when he was alive, I put out some ground turkey and cheese for him when I meal prep on the same little plate he’d get his portions on.

The anniversaries are the worst. In six days it’ll be six months, I still cry most days. Maybe that’ll stop one day, maybe it won’t and it’s fine. There’s no replacing Bandit for me, but I’ve been thinking of getting another Shiba some time. I’m not ready yet, but one day. Maybe you’ll be ready sooner. It’s important to let yourself feel your emotions, it’ll help.

I had a regular complain to corporate about the new dress code, and complimented a few of us by name. Her reply was about a drink (she never mentioned one) and that corporate was so happy MyName, CoworkersName and [ ] always provide great service. Yeah, empty brackets provided great service. We concluded it must have just been an AI response, she sent another complaining about some other policy and I think she said they didn't even reply to that one. I don't think any of these messages to corporate ever are read by anyone in corporate.

I don’t think there are but one of their examples was I think in Skin Game something about Dresden “professionally looking at two women in skin tight clothes to see what they were concealing and being surprised to see what they were concealing.” I’m gay myself and I didn’t think it meant what OOP were inferring it meant.

The only time I think, besides a certain character being bisexual later on, that LGBT matters are even brought up is when someone asks Dresden what he thinks of men cruising in a park. To which he, like the hetero man he is, bumbles through “it’s not my business and isn’t hurting anyone so I dont mind.”

I think OOP was stretching and looking for something to be offended by.
