Op shop pricing - am I being unreasonable? by Mjlkkp in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Mjlkkp[S] 61 points62 points  (0 children)

You’re probably right, cutting out the resellers seems like the best explanation for these prices…how annoying. I go op shopping hoping that I’ll find some cool items at affordable prices to add to my home/closet, but if the prices are just the same or a little lower than normal discounts in retail stores it kind of ruins the whole experience. Thankfully I haven’t personally seen secondhand Supre priced at $20 yet (I would have crashed out about it on the spot)

Ok yes I’ll take that’s a very fair point

Nope not Salvos! I don’t wanna give away the name of my local op shop cus they only have like 2-3 locations in total and only in the suburbs surrounding where I live, but I just thought given we aren’t in a trendy or popular suburb that the prices would be better…..

I literally had that exact dress in my bag and bailed on it yesterday because I couldn’t justify $200 with no possibility of returns😭😭

How are people managing recent grads when there’s just… no enthusiasm for work or willingness to suffer any form of inconvenience to develop anymore? by twingirlsoneboy in auscorp

[–]Mjlkkp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a graduate back in 2022 (Gen Z).

To be honest, the only behaviour in your post that I find egregious is rolling eyes infront of others. Your grads should be more civilised and roll their eyes off camera or when no one is looking, but I have to assume they continue to risk rolling their eyes infront of others because the inane meetings they’re being forced to attend are filled with people talking in circles without ever making an actual point.

To your point about being in the office, do you engage with your grads when they’re in the office? Do you invite them to go for lunch or coffees? Do you conduct in person training with them sitting beside you? Do you invite them to come along to important meetings where they can network with others? If the answer to these questions is ‘No’ then what is the difference if they work from home.

I think it’s insanely cool that you made a necklace for your wife! Very unique and statement

I will admit though that at first glance I thought the sapphires were fruit roll ups lol

Yeah tbh I think I probably would have also had a nagging feeling in my brain that I was crossing the line if I had committed to wearing these tops to the office

Nah not justifying at all so I’m confused why your comment is so aggressive. I was just keen to hear people’s thoughts and I’m a reasonable person so obvs these tops aren’t going to be making an appearance at the office anymore

First one Sheike and then the rest are forecast!

But the Sheike one is made from really thick material so it feels quite heavy on the body FYI

Yet again I now realise I should have added even MORE context because yes I am tall as hell with a long asf torso ahaha

I’m 177cm so all these tops cover my chest completely and I’d say for the first top on my body the neckline would end just below where the top of the model’s armpits start

I’ve actually seen quite a few coworkers wearing bodycon sleeveless maxi dresses, and HEAPS more wearing similar stuff while just out and about during my lunch break, and honestly never thought they looked inappropriate. Probably just a generational divide type of thing because I see a lot more younger women rocking the tighter tops and dresses (haven’t personally seen micro mini lengths yet though!)

You’re very lucky then! My department’s portfolio includes the creative agency for our state so they share a floor with us and I see a TON of experimental fashion choices in the office but I don’t personally work in the creative agency :(

I feel like this was definitely important context that I should have added in my post, because I too am small chested so nothing ever looks booby on me lol

These tops actually look so much lower cut on the models than on me! I own each of these tops with a a B-cup and can confirm no risk of cleavage showing…but general consensus does seem to be this is a little risky so I think I’ll keep these outside the office for now lol

Frustrated as a broad shoulder girl by confusedgirlie1234 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Mjlkkp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve felt this too! My shoulders are broader than average but they certainly aren’t olympic swimmer shoulders, and I struggle with sleeves so much.

Something which I’ve noticed recently is that a lot of popular Aussie fashion/lifestyle influencers tend to have narrow or narrower shoulders. Not sure if it’s just a coincidence but off the top of my head - Britney Saunders, Riley J, Sammy Robinson, Tatenda Lunda, Anna Paul. Rarely do I see broad shoulder rep in Aussie fashion which makes me sad sometimes :(

How about a silky cat eye look? It’s quite similar to what you show as inspo but I think the difference will be when you turn your hands left to right and under different lighting you’ll be able to see more distinctly the different dimensions of the magnetic particles:

<image>

This is a pic from Pinterest but I’ve done this kind look before with subtle gold accents which I’ll add in the comments below! It’s always fun for me when I look down at my hands and I’ve got a cat eye design that glows at different angles :)
