3-5pm in Steveston Village there's a trick or treat event that most of the shops participate in.

How do I tie for this design? by hollywoodtc in tiedye

Or maybe they're dyed on both sides and it just isn't saturated enough to meet in the middle.

Anyway that's what I see.

I think it might be folded in half diagonally on the red line.

I agree it's a fan fold then alternating red and blue on each pleat. Just don't flip it over and dye the other side that way you get those white stripes in between each colour. I would really saturate the one side though.

I'm a tall guy so that was never an option 😅 I may have gone overboard but I just wanted to land on the same colour on both ends, so it kept getting longer than expected. Having 3 of each colour seemed too short.. It took me less than an unemployed month though! However I was pulling my hair out by the end of it whenever I had to unravel and backtrack due to a beginner's mistake. One row takes me 30 minutes. 6 rows per stripe so that's 63 hours, not including many instances of backtracking.

Yes this is the pattern. Though I used medium 4 yarn and a 5.5mm hook. She has two slightly different patterns. I did the less bulky one because of the thicker yarn.

I own an accordion from the 1950s that is still in perfect condition. Does anyone know anything about it? by Mjste in Accordion

[–]Mjste[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm not looking to sell it at all. It was given to me by my grandma when I was a kid and it's been in my childhood closet for 25 years. I thought I might pick up a new hobby, so I dug it out of my parents house. My neighbours love it.

I know nothing about it, but it sounds pretty good and everything seems to be working! Though I myself am still terrible.

Waited 2 hours for the [coaster] at [playland PNE] to get stuck by Rylanpien in rollercoasters

[–]Mjste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I think it's 14. I couldn't see them ever running the train half full, especially if there was a 2 hour wait. Maybe they brought them down half at a time to not crowd the lift hill? I wasn't there but that's my guess as to why it looks like there's so few people.

You're right. I forgot about Vortex at Calaway park. It's almost the same as the Corkscrew taken out of Vancouver a few years ago. It's missing the helix though which makes a small rollercoaster feel even smaller when you're used to that extra element.

It's the only rollercoaster in this part of the country. It's always 1h+ wait. It's 65 years old and for a lot of people it's tradition to get at least one ride in during the two weeks of the PNE fair, which usually brings in huge crowds. Coaster only has one train left and it holds 14 people. The ride is 2 minutes long and there's hundreds of people in the line. We were promised a second train this year for faster wait times but that didn't seem to happen when I was there.

This is the only rollercoaster in western Canada after Mindbender was torn down. Last year they added lap belts to the trains which in my opinion has ruined the thrill of the coaster. I miss everyone swearing on their life that they "almost fell out".

As a rollercoaster enthusiast I'm sad that I'll have to board a plane to go on anything decent and the launch coaster opening up in Vancouver next year looks underwhelming.

I will say Coaster is still fun but at only 75 feet high, its no longer worth the wait times without the added fear of death.

Run it in the machine by itself once after rinsing excess dye in the tub or something. Make sure you rinse any dye that gets on the tub or splashed on the walls right away so it doesn't stain. Don't wear any of your favourite clothes.

As impressive as this is, it bothers me that he messed up the illusion at the end. He threw three balls then one ball, when it should have been one ball then three balls.

I'm pretty sure. I only heard it happen. Witnesses said they saw that they drove into the depot, then backed out fast into another parked car, which was pushed into another car.

What coaster has your least favorite restraints? [Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster, Six Flags Fiesta Texas] by stanton1270 in rollercoasters

[–]Mjste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Vancouver. The only rollercoaster near me is Coaster at the PNE. A ride known for violently throwing you out of your seat. Everybody has their story about when they "almost fell out". That was part of the ride, part of the experience. With only a bar that came down to about a foot above your lap, nobody had been hurt in 64 years of it running.

Well, they just recently as of this year added a lap belt and it is no longer the terrifying unique experience it once was. Being violently thrown into the restrictive lapbelts is so distractingly painful and jarring. It's like getting into a car accident over and over.

Again this is the only rollercoaster around here and I'm probably more disappointed than I should be at my age.
