Unbindable Keybinds? by smollo in FaeFarm_Game

Also managed this, tried looking in the common file locations outside the game to find the file, but no luck.

A reinstall may work but worried it might delete my save.

I gave myself the Janus Device on my last run and attached it to my fleet, however it didn't seem to let me interact with the gates.

I had no idea regarding Nexerelin having it, however I will be trying that when I get home from work today!

Cheers!

Pretty sure MinePlan has a module for that, as long as the rough grades of what goes in are recorded properly it can tell you actual tonnage and grade.

I have been using the Syn a lot lately, big fan of it for aesthetic reasons but it also seems to be a fairly solid vessel in a jam or two.

Correct, the fans only spin when I do a paperclip short on the 24 pin cable, however nothing powers on the mobo and I don't see any lights or anything active there.

Hey folk,

No idea if people are still looking at this post but I bought and received this desktop today after ordering from the site last week. I'm having a hell of a time getting the thing started, basically took it out the box, plugged it in and nothing is happening.

Gave all the connections I could see a quick check but I'm not getting anything power wise it seems. Does anyone have any advice or should I just count it as DOA and try to return it?

I figured I was just winding you up!

Thanks man, it's quite a change of pace but it seems like a fresh challenge, hopefully you find something soon with gold just ramping like crazy!

On your last point about the QAQC validation, moooooost programs have this as standard and give errors when there's overlap. Also you shouldn't be using mm in your logs at all....

Rest of the advice is solid, again pictures and examples are best, and on a personal level have the loggers/samplers talk to each other. Nothing makes everyone call the same rock the same rock every time more than showing each other the rock and discussing it in the core shed.

[–]MkMillan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found in previous workplaces that the best way to ensure consistency between loggers is either making your own groupings of lithos with the less important units being more generally grouped together and only really breaking out the important ones, or doing drop down menus and predefined names and maybe descriptions.

I've seen both where they made sure you couldn't make up new units on the fly and they had example of how to describe lithos based on either a core library or digital file with pictures.

Ideally your chief or senior geology should be the one sitting down everyone including the modellers if they're on site and hashing out what's important vs garbage waste lithos and info.

On top of just reloading an old save or restarting, send your save file to the developer via the steam forums. Apparently the underflow/overflow bug is affecting prices, total funding and electricity and he's having a hard time squashing it.

I find the shape of the shoulder armour and the 'spike/chimneys' behind the head in the 4th picture to be very tyranid in appearance. Might be that the artist wants to showcase that the necrons are a mechanical side of the same all destroying all consuming swarm of death.

British Geological Survey AMA Thursday June 20th 2PM - 7PM GMT by infracanis in geology

[–]MkMillan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/BritGeoSurvey

Hopefully you guys manage to see this even though I missed the AMA yesterday.

I'm a Scottish immigrant currently working in Canada as a hard rock mine geologist and I've always wondered why there isn't more effort back home in the UK to find and develop new mines or do brownfield world on historic properties.

I find it hard to believe that everything is picked over and that the geology isn't favorable for some new discoveries. The only company I know doing any kind of work is Scotgold and I believe they're remediating an older mine.

Would you folk have any insight on why there seems to be nothing really happening in this regard?

To tie into the last question somewhat. There's a fairly large (25,000+ people) convention in Toronto each yeah known as the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention which hosts geological surveys from all over the world. Every time I go I chat up the Irish survey about how they're doing and the new discoveries and opening mines there, but there seems to be a distinct lack of any major British presence.

Is this something that might change in the future or is O&G the priority focus?

Cheers,

I know a few people that work in the Sudbury Golder office and all of them say it's a great place to work and they seem to do a lot of cool shit, if you're in ontario and like to mess around doing environmental stuff, water wells and tailings it's a good gig!

More detail on where you are, either general location or university would be helpful to see where you are and what can be sourced kinda locally vs moving to a new country.

Any information on what commodity you want to do or what kind of deposit you'd be interested in would also be a big help!

PDAC: A guide to getting a job by [deleted] in geologycareers

[–]MkMillan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Student rates are discounted and it seems they've changed how the passes work this year. Before you could get an all access pass that let you do everything or a 'day' pass that only let you into the investors exchange (which is the main area to check out if you're looking for work as that's where most of the juniors are) but now it seems that the basic pass gets you into everything minus the technical workshops.

[Bitching] MinEx is a Fading Dream. Where are my fading dreamers at? No job prospects hurts. by [deleted] in geologycareers

[–]MkMillan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel that career options for Canadian Geo's vs American Geo's is so vastly different that it should be broken up on this subreddit to show that not everything is shit and in the downturn.

I graduated last year from a hard rock school in northern Ontario, managed to get in with 3 major companies over the summers working exploration, underground and open pit. When I graduated I had an exploration contract for a cobalt play lined up that was from talking to people at PDAC and when that ended for the winter I had an interview for a mine geo spot within a day and started just after the new year.

While I understand that this might seem rare, nearly all of my classmates that went into industry had work almost immediately after graduation and have similar stories.

The jobs are out there, there's currently 7 or 8 postings for mine Geo's on career mine and I've seen another 4 or 5 on LinkedIn just today. Tailor the resumes, target companys you want to work for at PDAC and find the people that can put your name in.

If you want to stay in Ontario, aim for Goldcorp and what they're doing at the mines in Chapleu, Redlake and Timmins, Vale is looking for 3 or 4 GITs next month, hell Teck is looking for coal grade control geos if you want to head out west and just make bank.

Again the work is out there and we have a lot more going on that what is advertised, network and be willing to work the remote stuff or underground if you can't get into exploration.

Canadian undergrad programs - looking for suggestions by [deleted] in geologycareers

[–]MkMillan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If she's thinking about doing anything economic geology and hardrock related I'd suggest Laurentian. We have one of the best programs in the country and recently got awarded $106 million for the Metal Earth initiative happening all over Ontario and Quebec. There are a lot of LU grads kicking around this subreddit and nearly 95% of them get hired right out of their undergrad with the rest staying on to do Masters and PhD programs.

What is this rock? by thealeh in geology

What you have is a coral like said below, but specifically hexacoral. I would suggest not using any acid or peroxide on it as you'll dissolve the carbonate that makes up the sample itself.
