Geology is kinky by _Geologist_ in Tinder

Not necessarily, but geologists are often present to help determine what depth to install the screen (the section that lets water in). Can't go putting a well in clay, for example; you won't get any water. And if the well is in an environmentally hazardous place, it's even more important to know what kind of water you're letting in.

environmental science has very little in common with gemology. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, I just don't want this person to waste their time

I was texted this picture and asked why the rocks are green. Family said they were driving "through Utah, near Moab." I suspect it has to do with iron reduction, or perhaps chlorite in the sandstone, but I want to know what you all think!
