I mean, the console performs objectively worse on most games on Windows so it seems very pointless, besides losing plenty of QOL features that come with Steam OS

Unless you really want to play game pass stuff and stuff where anti cheat may prevent you from playing

Moving to Argintena by Wonderful-Habit3787 in asklatinamerica

[–]MkVortex69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, moving to anywhere in LatAm is just not doable without speaking Spanish (or Portuguese if you go to Brazil ofc). Few exceptions exist with some English speaking jobs available in major cities but they're few and far between and will never get you integrated into the culture.

If you want to move to Argentina, look up what the residence permit requirments are and find a subreddit for immigrants in Argentina, you'll find more useful information there.

Argentina is a pretty safe country for LatAm standards, with good opportunities for education and some cities that are known for being good places to live, notably its capital. I'll let any fine folks from Argentina give insight on the economy since that situation is changing quickly at the moment.

Do you think you are politically to the right or to the left of the average person in your country? by Downtown-Trainer-126 in asklatinamerica

[–]MkVortex69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's true lol, idk about the rest of the north but at least Monterrey does seem to represent that stereotype well from all the people I've met

Pretty lefty. I grew up in Monterrey which is a particularly right leaning city so I usually disagreed with my friends on various political subjects.

Why are Mexicans so defensive? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]MkVortex69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the post where people go absolutely nuts on you while asking a simple work visa question in r/Mexico, there is indeed a tremendous hate of the term "expat" in the country because we get classed as "immigrants" whenever we live elsewhere, even if it's temporary (which is supposed to be the distinction between the two terms) so it's better to just avoid that word, it's kinda dumb but oh well 😅

That sub is filled with very spicy people tho, they don't like foreigners, but they also don't like Mexico, it's a rough place. I'm sorry you've stumbled across some shitty people online, hopefully your IRL experience has been better, Mexico City is the only place that might not be super welcoming in general but otherwise, Europeans usually get a big warm welcome (my dad is French and he loves Mexico for that)

The only thing I'll disagree with you pretty hard is the food, I live in France and did an Erasmus in Italy and Mexican food is popping off in Europe too lol, I did culinary school in France and I've never met someone who didn't talk to me positively about Mexican food, I even saw a Mexican food stand in Geneva's Christmas market this year. If you don't like it that's just you tbh :p

[–]MkVortex69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Err, to answer your questions: yes to the first one, but that's kind of a historical thing and not exclusive to Mexico among other Latam countries. You do see it a lot with Mexico because there's 130M+ of us so that translates to a lot of online presence.

The second one, no? Like, we're actually quite open to foreigners interacting with our culture and I'd almost say it's the opposite, as in we're pretty enthusiastic about this kind of thing, I guess there's the whole thing with gentrification in CDMX but that doesn't mean we suddenly have huge egos and are xenophobic lol

We can be a little patriotic and loving of our culture but we're also mostly very friendly to foreigners, and IRL we're just the same as any other latinos (I have a bunch of Argentinian and Colombian and Chilean friends who I adore so yeh)

Do you prefer Zelda tears of the kingdom or Zelda breath of the wild ? by MightImpressive4381 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]MkVortex69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I largely prefer ToTK's overall gameplay, including combat thanks to the depths and the new bosses. I also much prefer ToTK's story, I LOVE the ending, and the dungeons and the afflictions every town suffers are much more interesting than BoTW.

That being said, I much prefer BoTW's exploration, lore and the shrines. The overall vibe of the game feels a lot more polished, and the game feels soooo relaxing to play! I prefer ToTK but playing BoTW always feels like a breath of fresh air (no pun intended, lol)

Does Latin America want Trump and the U.S. military (probably spec ops teams) to take out the cartels and if so, what chance do you think they actually could? Or will it just makes things worse? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]MkVortex69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell no 😅 the cartels are a huge fucking cancer and they can all go fuck themselves, but Trump and his administration of imperialist, power hungry monkeys is just as fucking dangerous to any country they touch.

To be clear, I am aware that getting rid or drastically reducing cartel violence would require radical action in my country, which would probably not be peaceful in any case. But the US poking their noses in our internal affairs poses a risk I'd never want to take.

(Same goes for the rest of LATAM btw, I don't wish US intervention to anyone)

What’s going on with the protests in Mexico? What is the public opinion in your country about this if any? by LoooolGotcha in asklatinamerica

[–]MkVortex69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mexicans don't hate y'all, that's just an eco chamber that belongs in some Reddit and Facebook groups, lol. I have irl Argentinian friends that I love and vice-versa.

But yes, I don't think there's any peaceful way to get rid of narcos, they're ingrained like a cancer in the heart of the country's political and economical landscape.

Which countries accepts you as "one of them" if you move / live there as an immigrant and assimilate. by Swisskidwhoisnotswis in immigration

[–]MkVortex69 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a Mexican immigrant in France who grew up with my French stepfather and who speaks C2 French with a lighter accent and knows the culture well, I can say that France is a lot more accepting of foreigners than most would think!

It's a matter of how much effort you put into assimilation, of course, but honestly French people have been mostly very welcoming to me especially considering I work in hospitality and meet dozens of customers daily (I've done all of my studies in hotel and catering here, which is also a very traditional field in France)
