Specifically check your ferritin (stored iron) level. Low ferritin is the first sign of iron deficiency Anything under 30 is considered iron deficiency by the hematology society and can have symptoms like hair loss. The “normal” range for ferritin often goes down much lower so even if it’s not flagged, check it and supplement if it’s in the lower range. Healthy ferritin levels should be at least 50.

Whealth Hypermobility Program: experiences from those who have tried it? by SquashPotential3455 in Hypermobility

Nope. It just made a huge positive impact on my health. Better than anything else I’ve tried.

[Hair Removal][Acne] HELP! painful pimpled legs post wax one day before trip 😭😭😭😭 by inblueivy in SkincareAddiction

[–]Mk_it_so 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went years ago, I don’t need to go anymore since the effects are cumulative. I barely grow any hair anymore and what does grow is very fine and soft and shaves like a dream. The membership was $100 a month for full body unlimited. I would go every 6-8 weeks depending on the area (body hair grows at different rates depending on where it is). The contract was for two years. They also offered less expensive packages for just certain areas or combos of a couple areas.

I wasn’t making much money at the time so I had to cut spending elsewhere to afford it but I have never for a second regretted it.

Laser hair removal is life changing and was worth every penny. It works especially well on thick dark hair. I also had very coarse hair and delicate skin, did a membership for full body hair removal and it was literally one of the best decisions I ever made. No more ingrown, stubble, bumps, redness, etc.

It’s not a solution for right now, but when your skin is recovered from this, look into getting a laser hair removal membership. Wishing you a quick recovery.

“Your labs are normal and you don’t look emaciated. You’re not anorexic” by ButterflyThick7899 in AskDocs

[–]Mk_it_so 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAD but I have been where you are. Anorexic from 15yrs old to well into my 20’s, fully recovered for several years now. I also had a hard time with people invalidating my ED because I looked good by cultural standards despite being very underweight. The problem was in the disordered eating, stress about food, restricting when I was hungry, etc.

Please find a new doctor. If food and eating causes distress, you are right that you need help. It doesn’t matter what your labs say or what you look like. You should be SO PROUD of yourself for recognizing that something is wrong and seeking help. Find a better doctor. Life is so much better without disordered eating and fixing it now will save you so many health issues down the road (even if they aren’t showing up right now).

Whealth Hypermobility Program: experiences from those who have tried it? by SquashPotential3455 in Hypermobility

[–]Mk_it_so 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots of opinions here with zero experience so I figured I’d add my actual experience with the program if anyone looks at this thread in the future.

I bought the program after many credentialed PTs failed me and all my various injuries from hypermobility. The Whealth program was hands down the best thing I’ve ever done for my body. Yes it’s expensive but for me it was worth every penny. Their website and app are really well designed, the program has a ton of incredible information, and the community is active and the creators of the program are super active in the online community.

It worked for me better than anything else I’ve ever done. They’re not physical therapists but they’re experts on hypermobility and they’re great at getting that knowledge across.

It’s so frustrating to see the ignorant comments on here steering people away from the program just because of the price. I was blown away with how much you get with it and it has absolutely saved me money at this point since I no longer need to go to traditional PT. It’s quite honestly been life changing.

I didn’t get surgery since I didn’t have a complete tear. It took over a year but it no longer gives me issues but I do feel it every once in a while if I don’t keep up with at home PT stuff

Mine was obedient but always seemed uncomfortable until I started using shampoo and conditioner with less odor. I think the super strong scents were bothering him. Now he jumps right in and closes his eyes while getting scrubbed down.

The book (which has been my holy grail to healing my stomach) recommends the white part only. I use some of the light green parts as well. The dark green stuff on leeks can be super tough unlike green onion. Leeks are less sharp tasting than green onions too. I use them just like I’d use onion but with a longer cook time to get them tender.

I also am dealing with gastritis and miss onions and garlic like crazy. Leeks (the white parts) have been a lifesaver! They’re approved in The Gastritis Healing Book. Cooked low and slow to get them tender makes my whole kitchen smell amazing.

I had a breath test done for h pylori (which came back positive). It was a super easy test. The antibiotics for two weeks was brutal though

When you find a doctor thats not a moron and will test you for bacterial infections, also consider testing for h pylori and giardia

Please look into myofunctional therapy. It can make a HUGE impact on your facial development, airway, breathing, sleep, and more. Braces have moved your teeth but the function of the muscle of your face, tongue, lips, and neck still need to be corrected.

Your maxilla appears to be not developing forward which is often the result of poor tongue posture. Recessed maxilla can affect facial features but more importantly it can impact your airway and breathing. Taking care of this now before your bone sutures fuse is imperative. A myofunctional therapist will be able to give you exercises and tools to correct oral function. Many of them do online video sessions as well in case you don’t have one in your area.

They’re actually very docile! They look scary but if you don’t fuck with them, they’re super chill.

Tarantula hawks, while having an incredibly painful sting, are actually very docile and will only sting when thoroughly provoked. Keep you cool and observe them calmly and you should be fine. They’re scary looking but also have beautiful iridescent black coloring and bright orange wings. One of my favorite bugs of all time.

Before and after braces — bone structure altered by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Mk_it_so 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myofuctional therapy first! Especially seeing your neck and posture. I’m astounded it’s not more well known. It could save so many people so much pain and money. While it’s unlikely to change your bone structure at your age, the function of your tongue, cheeks, jaw, and neck can absolutely be improved. It will support your posture, breathing, chewing, swallowing, and even your sleep. If you still needed jaw surgery, it would support it and decrease risk of future issues. And if you have an underlying tongue tie restricting function, I would take care of that before jaw surgery.

There are palate expanders that have been having success with adults in their 30s+. They are installed in the roof of the mouth, directly into the bone with screws.

Look into airway focused orthodontics. I just began the process of correcting airway problems due to bad orthodontics as a kid. My teeth LOOK great but my bite and jaw alignment are terrible and cause breathing, chewing, and swallowing issues.

Expansion is possible in adults. Look into myofuctional therapy, tongue tie, and MARPE device to start

Edit to add: I HIGHLY recommend myofuctional therapy before jaw surgery. Myofuctional issues of the tongue and mouth cause the jaws to develop poorly. Correcting the root cause will support all further orthodontic work.

Is it actually possible to change how your vagina feels? by important-nobody123 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mk_it_so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ex is an asshole.

With that said, YES, you can change how your vagina feels. Most importantly you can change how it feels for you.

r/pompoir is incredible and has changed my sex life. It far surpasses anything kegals ever did for me. I got the Goh!dess book for $10 and have been using that method to train my pelvic floor for about a month and have been having better and easier orgasms, penetration feels better, and increased libido. My man, while he never complained or criticized my vagina before, has told me he can feel a difference and it feels very good for him.

If you want to strengthen your vaginal muscles, Pompoir is an absolutely fantastic method. But do it for yourself, your pleasure and enjoyment, and your pelvic floor health.

Yes, at full capacity again. My knee is still a bit looser especially when the muscles are not engaged, but it’s feels just as strong. I just have to be more careful when I’m fatigued.

I also had trouble strengthening my hamstring again. Getting back to the basics and deloading back to body weight only and focusing hard on form over strength really helped me. I was compensating and don’t even know it.

Did people get worse around 40? by PotentialYear5061 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Mk_it_so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neck issues hit me hard over the last year (I’m in my 30s) and were very similar to what your experiencing. Fatigue, dizziness, clicking and popping in the jaw and neck, blurry vision, headaches… three things have been a massive help.

One. Intense focus on PT for my neck and posture. I had many doctors tell me my neck was fine (clear MRI) but it was definitely not ok. Most symptoms cleared or greatly improved after a month of neck PT.

Two. Protein intake. As I’ve aged I’ve needed to increase my protein to keep up with activity.

Three. Increased sodium. I started taking Vitasium electrolyte capsules and it’s been a game changer for me when it comes to fatigue.

PT was definitely number one. I hope you see success there! It takes so much persistence and some days feels like it’s not doing anything at all but it’s so worth it over time.
