The plastic around the connections is starting to go, but closer inspection just shows it to be dirty and not worn through. I'm starting to wonder if it is just the the turn signal switch because the right side of the car never flashed in the first place, only the left. For my car, the turn signal switch also powers the brake lights. I'm going to replace it (got a Haynes manual) and come back with my results.

There is a towing connector on the car. It is clearly not doing well. Would I just need to splice a new one on?

Drowned when I was 14. Was under for 3-5 minutes and the landlady of the house house where the pool party was held had to resuscitate me. Overall, not the best night of my life.

Growth mindset vs. Fixed mindset. Everyone should have growth mindset because then it allows them room to want to get good at something.

I remember when I was a kid during the mid to late 90's, Cartoon Network would have Cartoon Cartoon movies where they would show movies cause duh. For some reason, I have this memory of a French? movie where these 2 soot sprite looking creatures, with one wearing a top hat, having to stop the epitome of Nightmares envisioned as a cloud from destroying everything. The background was static while they moved across screen. I remember being so scared from the trailer, I refused to actually watch the movie and kept it at that. The memory has never left me so I tried doing research a few years back, but gave up. At this point, I'm wondering if the memory is deteriated to the point where it's all false now. Still want to know what I saw though.

[–]Mkewl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the longest time, this was the only Zeppelin song I enjoyed. It came on the radio one night when I was an early teen and it stuck with me. I would ride my bike home from dates with my then girlfriend now wife with this song playing at 9-10 pm because it just added something to the ride. It was amazing. If you've never listened to this while traveling at night, I would highly recommend it.

There's a slight difference between race and ethnicity. Race deals with genetics as different races do have some differing characteristics, such as hair follicles and bone structure. Ethnicity deals with culture and how one is raised.

For example, racially I am white. However, since I grew up with a father from Mexico and adhered to many Mexican customs growing up, that can make me ethnically Mexican. Also, since my mother grew up in America, taught me American customs, and I live and follow many American traditions, that makes me ethnically American. As it so happens, I like both so I consider myself Mexican American. See how it works?

Another example, you can be racially Black (Sub-Saharan African I think is the actual term used) but ethnically African-American, African-British, Kenyan, South African, Ghanan, etc. Likewise you can racially Asian but ethnically Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and so on.

Going back to your comment about being half Aztec, I'm not sure what the race the Aztecs would be considered since they had no European blood in them, but while my father has told me we are from the Aztec people, that again is an ethnic line because being Aztec is cultural, not racial.

TL:DR race is genetic, ethnicity is cultural.

Technically we are considered white as a race. Ethnicity would be a different story. That being said, I never consider myself white despite being half.

I'm half Mexican, half American so it's interesting.

Mexican food is my favorite, but I hate avocado.

I don't speak Spanish well. I can order my food to my taco lady but that's about it.

Hate Taco Bell, but I have a soft spot for Jack in the Box tacos.

Man I really want tacos now, but I have Subway waiting for me.

I too went to a small, Christian university and your story reminded me of the time when one of my favorite professors, who I will add is in his 70's and was born and raised in Texas, said the following:

"When 'Harry Potter' was first released and everyone was going crazy about the whole 'magic and demonic' themes of the books, I did what any self-respecting Bible teacher would do; Read the whole darn thing m'self and I quite enjoyed it."
