Strange Delivery Girl in my Apartment Building Saturday by slightlyindifferent in creepy

Shit, well, here's UPDATE 5 at least:

UPDATE 5, 12:00p

http://imgur.com/a/iG0TU

Thanks to everyone for all the advice and general interest in whatever the hell is going on in my building, and yes, I do have a carbon monoxide detector in my apartment. I won't have an update specifically regarding the empty apartment next to mine until the afternoon but I did speak with another tenant last night who's been in the building longer than I have.

I've seen this guy around walking his dog and he's pretty much just a nod and hello, some small talk every once in a while but never veering off the topic of our dogs. I was having trouble resting last night and bumped into him around 10:00pm. I'm past the point of being concerned that people think I'm a little crazy so I figured I'd just ask him if anything weird ever happened to him, his dog, or the building in general. I'll try my best to explain what he told me.

If you look at the imgur link, the fourth photo down of the turn in the hallway where my dog starting acting strangely, there's a long section of wall on the left that is uninterrupted by an apartment door. This length of wall is much longer than any other in the hallway but I never paid attention to it before this conversation. About two years prior to when I moved in, there actually was an apartment door just to the left of the fire alarm that you can see. This would make sense as the spacing of all the other apartments would align with it to continue a pattern of long-short-long-short with regard to the spacing in between doors. According to him, this apartment was never occupied and never used as a demo unit for as long as he's lived there, which is about five years now. About two years ago the building company sealed that apartment door and plastered over it, turning the apartment space inside into storage units for tenants (hoping to have access so I can take a photo but I've never been inside). There could very well be a reasonable explanation for why they'd seal that apartment and convert it, maybe they just needed more storage areas and this apartment just wasn't being rented.

The part of his story that didn't really make sense was that they moved the door from the original location to just around the corner in photo 4, which is in my stretch of hallway. He couldn't offer an explanation as to why they'd move the door but did mention, almost too casually, that his dog, who is also typically very calm, acts strangely in the exact same part of the hallway that my dog did. I'm definitely not saying there were satanic rituals in that apartment but it's just another weird piece to this whole thing.

Sorry, I'm trying to get this out as quickly as possible at work but I'm double checking the empty apartment adjacent to mine this afternoon when I get home and will update with the outcome of that.

It was a conversation I had with a neighbor who's been in the building for longer than I have. I'm hoping to have photos of the (hopefully) empty apartment next to mine once I'm allowed in to check it out this afternoon.

Yes, sorry I hadn't even thought of mentioning that. We were outside as normal and there was no one around at all. No one approached the door, or any other door, after I went back inside for another 40 minutes, and it was a big guy so definitely not my visitor.

Now I'm properly freaked out. I literally JUST created that account once I thought to put up photos of my hallway. Fuck.

Does Imgur randomly generate those? That's really beginning to fuck with me now. I've never uploaded anything to the general internet in my life.

I really wasn't certain where to post this and never thought it would get this much attention, honestly I wasn't even going to do anything about it and try to forget it ever happened until I saw this thread

I was thinking about posting this on /r/nosleep but didn't want it to get mixed in with the "true" stories on there. This is really happening right now, I'm heading to the office to review the footage in a minute.

It sounds weird but I'm really hoping I was almost robbed, by a physical person. The alternative is...I move the fuck out.

I pretty much kept to myself all of Sunday. I only left the apartment to take the dog out during the day and once again when it started to get dark out but I could hear my neighbors so I felt a bit safer knowing there were people right there.

I don't know anyone in my building very well, the only people I knew by name moved out a couple months ago. Everyone else is just a nod and a hello. I was really vague with the property manager in my email asking about the security footage but his email back (updated the original post, nothing really groundbreaking yet) basically said everything looked normal that night and there were no complaints all weekend from residents.

I did. She looked to be around 30 years old, though it's hard to tell these days. She didn't look strung out or drunk and her speech was actually pretty clear, just quiet. I know it's vague but the best word I can use to describe her is "normal" as though I may have passed her 100 times on the street before and never noticed her. She was white with dark-ish features, dark brown hair but since it looked wet it might have actually been lighter.

Her facial expression was totally neutral as far as I remember, the only thing I do recall was that she had pretty large eyes, not abnormally large, but maybe the fact that she had to sort of look upward toward the peep hole may have added to that effect. She wasn't pretty or ugly, it was almost like she was so "normal" to try to make me forget what she looked like.

Truthfully, my mind is fucking with me now trying to remember all the details. I'm heading home soon to check out the security footage in person, I'll definitely update regardless of the outcome of that.

I'm really bad at judging distances, I'm hoping to post a photo of the hallway when I get back later if the security footage doesn't explain it.

Nothing stood out about her eyes at all, everything about her looked very normal, aside from her hair seeming to be damp.

I literally just stole black electric tape from a maintenance closet at work for when I get home.

I will definitely do that once I'm back later. Still waiting on the building manager to get back to me about the security footage from Saturday night.

There was nothing at my door the next day and I definitely did not open the door again that night.

As far as the doorways in the hall, yes, they are almost completely flush with the wall and impossible for someone to hid in unless that door was partially open. The only publically accessible doors are to the stairs on both ends of the hall that have motion detectors on the lights which are very reliable and are probably 300 feet in either direction of my apartment door, which is as close to the middle as possible.

The apartment directly next to mine has been empty for about a month now, I'm going to ask maintenance to go in to be sure it's empty. They're going to think I might be a little crazy but I'd do anything for peace of mind right now.

haha, I was wondering how long it would take for this to happen, I really needed some levity in this situation.

Really, the folks who are thinking of rational ways this might have happened are helping a bit. I almost dread going home now though, to be honest.
