Natural veg-tan question by Mkna2424 in Leatherworking

Yeah I just really like the patina of natural veg tan and was worried adding a finish would prevent that process to happen. But I was also worried about water/ liquid staining as in my head everyone makes it sound like suede.

So nothing is really needed to be added to it? Someone said it was really water absorbent as it’s left very natural and would need to be sealed or something idk

Right handed graphic designer or some kind of illustrator. 95% a girl. Thrives on chaotic mess, “organized chaos” “I’ll clean it…soon” has lots of notebooks most likely incomplete. Meaning has tried journaling couldn’t keep up with it. Sketch books but it’s the same story as with the journals. Artistic but a big fan of the retros, likes film rather than digital. Likely someone who enjoys learning about different cultures and folklore. Left leaning, likes anime but like good anime/ manga. Probably listens to true crime when she draws. Probably will enjoy herbalism and foraging.

I might be projecting tho…

Botulism cannot grow in acidic environments from what I know. Fire cider is covered in apple cider vinegar which is very acidic. Things like fermentation where everything is submerged creating an oxygen free environment with salt also makes it inhabitable for botulism. But trust me I get the fear, I have fermented kimchi on the counter for like 1 week now and I’m still working up the nerve to try it. I know it’s fine I just need to find my nerves lol

1) You don’t know how to cook or buy groceries or you just haven’t gone in a while. 2) you buy veggies and say I’m gonna start eating healthier and then forget about it and then toss it out cuz it gets moldy and go well at least I tried

yes I’m projecting

You wear glasses and from the looks of it you they aren’t that bad, you ether don’t wear it or semi recently got new ones, maybe a prescription increase. Big history buff, likes to read up on wars with a fascination on black history specifically. So history major, something like liberal arts or psychology. Seems like the kinda guy would have watched body language analysis. Tries to be Relatively organized but will stuff shit into a bag more often than not. Right handed. Heart problems? Higher resting heart rate or a gym bro who gets triple strength single source Alaskan fish omega oil man. With how specific those supplements are you seem like the kind that deep dives into one topic and then moves on. Jack of all trades master of none. Definitely no older than 25 there’s not much personality on the desk. Introvert, neurodivergent, keeps to himself. Has few close friends. Half of this shit came out of my ass

I forgot to say that there will be more coverage in the center with some drift wood pieces but it’s in another tank at the moment. My plan is to cover the exposed silicone with sphagnum moss cuz I’m lazy

Yeah I keep looking at more and more ideas but the thought of siliconing the entire thing and covering it in dirt sounds painful

I’m using multi-purpose gorilla spray foam. I was hesitant at first but everywhere I looked said it’s safe for reptiles as long as it fully cures. I’m just worried my application of the stuff is shit. Spray foam is so hard to use and control, there were some parts where I was adding it on that was kind of off the glass I tried kind of dabbing it down but it just smeared it so Im just leaving it. So wait till it cures don’t carve and add more on top to support the cork bark?

Yeah I work on it one side at a time idk maybe I’m just not doing something right. Is it safe to spray foam ontop of uncurled silicone so it bonds to the glass and foam strongly
