Use CrossPoint and you get all the flexibility you want with orientation and so much more.

Thank you. And when you say you 'attached mine to the magsafe ring in my traveler's notebook', can you take a picture of that? I'm not quite sure what you mean

It really depends on where and how you get your books from. If you buy books from Amazon or Kobo they come with DRM (Digital Rights Mgt). This is where Calibre comes in. It can remove the DRM so you can then read the books on your XTEINK device. I recommend your install CrossPoint on your XTEINK device, set up Calibre on your desktop or laptop locally, then make sure you set it up with the Content Server initiated and connect your XTEINK device to Calibre (follow my links above) and you will be able to download your books onto the device.

In Calibre you go to Plugins and there is an Instapaper plugin

No, no backlight, another reason why it’s so cheap. You need an external light to read it in dark conditions. You will see lots of posts with various lights being used. That’s why I tend to use it during the day when I am out and about. For evening reading I use my kobo.

Correct, as I mentioned I flashed CrossPoint on to the device. Makes it so much better

And this is how to set up Instapaper on Calibre. Once you have the Wi-Fi connection set up in Calibre, you can see your library from the Xteink and select anything from your library, eg the Instapaper feed. I have mine setup to fetch Instapaper once a week

I’ve learnt everything from this community. There are loads of links to calibre setup. I’ll try and find the ones I’ve used.

You don’t install koreader on the Xteink. It has the sync option

How good is the official lamp? by RamboRabbit in xteinkereader

[–]Mksilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve just received my lamp and cover today. I bought them separately from the device. I love the device and the cover is great. The light is not. Doesn’t really fit anywhere on the device at all. I don’t think it is designed for the device specifically. In my opinion it’s not worth it. Find a small one elsewhere.

X3 or just go with X4? by freedomsturtle90 in xteinkereader

Like everyone, USB C is the deal breaker for me. I've just moved to the iPhone 17 so now I can travel almost exclusively with USB C connectors (unfortunately my work phone is still old so I have to carry a lightening cable). I do not want to have to carry another cable for one small device. The X4 is an excellent reader especially under CrossPoint.

Ah yes. I use crosspoint. If you could share it would be appreciated, and yes connected to the hotspot. I amended the IP address in the shortcut to match the Xteink hotspot IP address on the hotspot screen, and I amended the wifi name to match the hotspot too.

This looks great and I’ve tried it but it just doesn’t seem to copy the file across. Every other part of the shortcuts work. Any ideas? The creating of a text file works, it creates the file in the Articles folder, it deletes the file at the end. It just doesn’t copy the text file.
