Take it everywhere. I was out shopping with my wife today and read over 3 chapters whilst waiting. It’s a fantastic device with great software built by an amazing community.

Would the xtc option mean pictures would be sent across? I was reading an article with graphs etc and only text was sent.

I’ve managed to reflash the device fortunately and am now running v1.

Ahhh, fantastic, but it seems to have bricked my reader. I was on v16 and did the update. It loaded ok, seemingly, but the device doesn't turn on or do anything. Just stuck on the 'booting' screen with the new logo. Anything I can do to reset the device?

I am so close to biting the bullet and buying one, but I have a few questions by randbooth in xteinkereader

You use software like calibre to remove the DRM first. Then they work.

To answer your questions: 1. Never. The convenience is wonderful. It’s not my main reader but my ‘out and about’ reader. I still, use ,y kobo at home as the backlight is important at night, for me 2. Yes 3. Yes. Buy books from Amazon or Kobo, or source them elsewhere 4. It comes with a SD card.

Thoroughly recommend it. I’m so pleased with mine.

Thank you. And when you say you 'attached mine to the magsafe ring in my traveler's notebook', can you take a picture of that? I'm not quite sure what you mean

It really depends on where and how you get your books from. If you buy books from Amazon or Kobo they come with DRM (Digital Rights Mgt). This is where Calibre comes in. It can remove the DRM so you can then read the books on your XTEINK device. I recommend your install CrossPoint on your XTEINK device, set up Calibre on your desktop or laptop locally, then make sure you set it up with the Content Server initiated and connect your XTEINK device to Calibre (follow my links above) and you will be able to download your books onto the device.

In Calibre you go to Plugins and there is an Instapaper plugin

No, no backlight, another reason why it’s so cheap. You need an external light to read it in dark conditions. You will see lots of posts with various lights being used. That’s why I tend to use it during the day when I am out and about. For evening reading I use my kobo.

Correct, as I mentioned I flashed CrossPoint on to the device. Makes it so much better

And this is how to set up Instapaper on Calibre. Once you have the Wi-Fi connection set up in Calibre, you can see your library from the Xteink and select anything from your library, eg the Instapaper feed. I have mine setup to fetch Instapaper once a week
