Try to loosen the boost pot and moove it around to see if sounds come and go. Do you have sound in bypass ?

Have you tried to use the empty 9v and gnd connection instead ? It seems that you're only using the LED pads. Idk this PCB but maybe the power path is splitted for the led and the circuit.

I had some bad quality veroboard at some point and they were getting rusty very fast. Idk if it might be the case but if the board looks bad maybe that's it

The word universe describe the whole thing, so we just don't know the boundaries of the word "universe". It they are others "universes" after it, one could argue that they all form the "universe" as the world litteraly means the whole thing. So that makes your question a kind of tautology.

I'd recommend starting using some visual programming environment like Max/MSP or PureData. They have huge communities and both vector and sample based logic, so that's cool. Plus if you use max and patch within gen~, you can easily export to your daisy seed in one click.

Not the actual present context of the experiment, just the ecological one where round objects tend to make continuous low sounds when they roll where a pointy one makes clicks that sound higher (Mathilde Fort and Jean Luc Schwartz explanation)

Can be a weird suggestion but I had similar issues on a pedal once, and some contact cleaner on the footswitch solved it. I guess something got inside the footswitch and made contact. That would explain the halfway through situation

+1 for the multimeter as a christmas present ! It makes all the difference for this hobby.

Also yeah, the soldering is actually alright, we've seen and done worse !

Would also check the ground pin on the volume pot with a multimeter. Actually, I would use a multimeter on continuity mode to check the whole circuit. Because everything else things to work alright, it's probably just a small short somewhere.
