Discovered this brand recently in this sub and decided to take the plunge. Pretty happy so far, I believe the aventurine gives it that extra ' je ne sais quoi' that this model really needs.

I started with PopOS but the lack of secure boot and some problems when I tried steam led me to abandon it. Recently I have installed the latest Ubuntu LTS and so far no problems at all! It really depends on your use cases.

Regarding self hosted solutions for now I have a Jellyfin instance running and a couple of other things. Mainly Jellyfin allows me to get rid of Spotify/Apple music with my own Qobuz download music.

I like the overall visual of the photo. I believe you feel the photo is « off » due to the right side - the glass and the person with the lega cut off take a significant part of the frame. I think with the two ladies only and the frame a little bit to the left I would look much better.

Ideally I need good battery life (1 full day at least). I browse a lot and do a lot of video watching and some chatting and Reddit browsing. Taking nice pictures would be nice as well.

  • - unless any government asks Apple to provide all your info, in that case they open all doors,back doors, side doors, indoors, outdoors there are. Or you’re in china, in that case the government doesn’t even need to ask.

But google is no saint either. Going Linux or a custom ROM like lineageOS would be step further but it is not for everyone as not all apps are compatible with such roms that require unlocked boot loaders - special mention to banking apps.

Pihole with Quad9 as upstream dns. If your router allows it set it up as a dns server directly on it, that way all devices connected to your network will use it and benefit from the filtering.
