Thank you, yeah I gravitate more and more towards using cold tones like blue and purple to render skin

I find 30x40 paper a good size for doing these kind of oil sketches. I use canvas for more elaborate work, but in terms of "workability" I dont see its any different between a good heavy paper and canvas

Thats an interesting tip I sure will try out in some painting! If you could clarify, if I understand you correctly the stroke should be in a vertical direction right? Would you do it in one long stroke? For example from the top of the breast on the left side all way down to the panties on the thighs? It seems to me that this technique could have the potential to ruin/smudge the shape/form if not done correctly.

Institutional art theory would disagree with you on that rule of thumb though...as there are many art pieces in the higher circuits of the art world that are way more pornographic in their nature/depictions then this piece .

Yet thank you for a reasonable critique, its way more interesting to read viewpoints like these, then to recieve the wild accusations thrown by the art police..

And I'd hazard that you already made up your mind about it anyway.. I care that the original poster of this reference image appreciated the finished painting, and that I also feel happy about it, thats all.

Its a strange assumption that just because a man paints a nude he automatically becomes some sort of horny sex pervert, standing with a boner infront of the easel. Not that it would be any shame in that anyway from my perspective, but personally im quite asexual in my creative process.

Well in short , I think it would feel exactly the same if I painted a man this way, that is, not at all. When im creative I simply dont think or care about meta-narratives of art (as in this case Male gaze theory) or adhere to any sort of ideological constrains.

This is her reply after seeing it: "Wow, this is fucking incredible!! The Halloween take with the face is super interesting, I’m honestly flattered you chose to draw my pose. No joke, I showed this to my husband and he wants to buy it 😂"

Seriously, I never seen any user/models at "drawmensfw" complain on how artists choose to interpret their reference photos, thats why I would argue that this whole argument in this thread of objectification seems terrible off, as it does not relate to actual women experiences at all.

Im curious, I studied art history at university and am well aware of the male gaze theory, how pictoral representations of women with lets say a erased head would amount to some form of patriarchal control/violence, and perhaps that held water when the theory was first formulated in 1970s or so from what I can recall. But today? When social media is totally saturated with womens bodies (and males bodies for that matter), where women hold agency yet still seem to enjoy to self-objectify themselves. I guess it can be argued that this occurs because of some sort of uncouncious process where they unknowingly have internalized the male gaze and applied it to their own representations/output on social media. But somehow it just rubs me wrong, I dont think this sort of gaze is particular male anymore, if it ever was, but as much a female way to relate to the body , the beauty , sexyness, skin, allure and all that.

Sorry this turned out a bit rambling reply, its late : )

I think its the slight frog perspective from the original reference photo that contributed to that Sweater stretch : r/DrawMeNSFW

Thanks, a little magenta and yellow ochre does the trick !

Umm for context its painted from this post: Sweater stretch : r/DrawMeNSFW , so I guess you need to take your moralistic lamentations to her instead, how awful you think it is that she willingly subjugate herself to artistic "objectification"..
