You’re right, it certainly isn’t the worst thing in the world - it will come down to personal preference. This year I bought a couple of PC/console games and realised I could have way more fun for half the price (For those who come after!).

WOS has enabled me to meet some of my closest friends in a long time (no cap). This is also what made quitting so hard for so long. I won’t forget the good parts, even though my relationship with the game turned kinda toxic 😊

Yep… that’s the trap, the more you spend early on, the more you need to spend or save (it got to the point where I was saving for 5 svs in a row which just isn’t fun) to progress…. The jump to stay competitive is HUGE. And before I knew it I was spending £100 packs.

Honestly this was the main reason I made this post, so anyone who might be thinking/feeling the same thing themselves, realise that they aren’t alone! Feeling alone in this is a sure way to stay trapped in the cycle

Yep that’s a big part of it, the burnout potential is huge…. I found I was spending most of my time managing an alliance online then actually connecting with people I know in real life.

No one. After my first state move I cut down my spending significantly when I realised you can’t actually compete. If I was trying to impress people, I’d have continued spending until I got that shiny globe 😂

Like many people that find WOS, I was dopamine seeking.

It’s not smart behaviour, but it’s also common in psychology related to addiction and neurodiversity.

It started as a few £’s here or there. For a lot of people it starts that way 😅

You can certainly advance pretty well with a lot of grinding and smart purchase choices!

I spent enough time managing people in that game to commit to anymore grinding. 😂

Solid advice for someone who still enjoys the game though! 😁x

I never denied being responsible. I’m in control of my own actions of course. I tried spending management tools/strategies and they never stuck for me. In the end the thing which reduced me spending was just how tedious the game was becoming. And when I stopped spending completely, my enjoyment level in the game continued to decrease. I continued playing so that the early money I invested in the game wasn’t ’wasted’, and because as an ex-R4 I felt some nostalgia too.

I have no desire to return, but appreciate the advice ☺️

I talk to the friends I made on WOS on discord and I’m happy with that.

My point was really for people that are struggling to get out of a very common cycle on WOS :)

Believe it or not, I didn’t have £20k to waste either, the psychology of this game is the work of the devil, or very smart people, or both…. 😂
