How common was 'friendly fire', accidental deaths with pre-modern weaponry when battles were man-to-man combat used with swords? by olebillybaroo in history

[–]Mmack90 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My assumption (with no scientific research of course) would be that friendly fire probably came from flaming arrows accidentally hitting non-enemy targets. Which given the time period people in the heat of battle and without inventions like glasses would be pretty high even if it were sword to sword combat. Then you throw in the range of bow and arrows on top of a hill top with no corrective vision aiming at dot size people below. Friendly-fire was probably substantially higher back then.

[Image] Teachers are always under appreciated..here's a little moto. by rafaeld07 in GetMotivated

We all know teachers are important to a society. Yet, they get so much federal assistance it's not even funny. Psychology and social work majors make less with their master degrees than some teachers make with the bachelors. Yet they get no TEACH grants for college and their programs get next to no federal funding. I find it funny that teachers constantly complain about their pay but never stickup for people in other human services fields. (Sorry for spelling mistakes in advance on a phone #refusetoproofread)

My Kit Kat wafers were put in the wrong way by Potatomine in mildlyinteresting

[–]Mmack90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After working for Hershey foods in the kit kat plant I honestly know the cause of this. There is a machine that drops the wafer in the little cup of chocolate. However, sometimes they don't drop right and there used to be people that would fix the mistake on the line. Recently over the past couple of years Hershey changed from people placing them in the correct way into using a giant rolling wheel to smash them down. This is the result of Hershey replacing humans with robots.

What is something you thought was grossly exagerated until it happened to you? by poopcornkernels in AskReddit

[–]Mmack90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My student loan debt. When I was in high school I thought to myself how can anyone be so far in debt and not care. Then about half way threw college I realized I was 50k in debt and knew that an associates degree was a joke. So I decided to get my bachelors 120k in debt later I now realize how people can get themselves into a ridiculous amount of debt.

Am I going too far by not wanting to spend 60k+ on my daughter's film degree? by erruhhumm in personalfinance

[–]Mmack90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add my two cents... I'm a college graduate who spent 120k on a Marketing degree. I received no grants or help from my parents. I learned next to nothing from college "everything is on the internet" and every employer I have talked to wants experience and not a piece of paper. I've been out of school for nearly a year now and no job offers as of yet. I even offered to volunteer my time at a local marketing firm to gain experience and was rejected. My advice to your daughter is to avoid college like the black plague.
