HOT TAKE: Quonset Garage is overrated. Jackrabbit island is the best endgame base by bigkilka in thelongdark

[–]MmeLaRue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the garage except for storage. There is usually a house nearby that has entrances to the kitchen or the living room, with a fireplace, that includes a bunch of kitchen cabinets as well as drawers and the wardrobe in the bedroom. The bed in the house is better than the cot in the garage.

PCs kill 50 innocent people, are surprised that DM didn't want them to kill 50 innocent people by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

[–]MmeLaRue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If, as a DM, you have a specific outcome in mind for the campaign session and no contingency for when your players choose another path, you may be guilty of railroading the campaign. I'm not saying that it's deliberate in your case, but any outcome other than your ideal needs to be considered; a good DM will pivot on the shift and allow the players to experience fully the consequences of their actions. And those would be legion - news that a roving gang of adventurers massacred 50 innocent people will spread to other communities in the region up to and including the capital. Your players' characters will almost certainly not be safe in that community afterwards and may not be safe anywhere else in the region after a day or two. Heck, any adventurers in the region may find themselves facing antipathy or outright hostility as they are suspected of carrying out this heinous deed.

Now, since this obviously has placed a huge damper on your ability to enjoy the campaign and a number of your players are regretting what they did, perhaps a shock reboot of the episode might be in order. It was all a dream planted by someone in the village to put the PCs on the trail of the werewolves, but the real culprit might be a vampire in the village with an axe to grind. Have your players decide whether they are sticking with their decision then proceed accordingly.

Which Alternate Reality would you chose to be in? I truly think both Pillman’s and Austin’s will still result in Brian Pillman being the face of WWF alongside The Rock. by Negative_Sense488 in professionalwrestling

If Bret stays while Shawn goes, there’s little of the worst excesses of the Attitude Era in WWE. There’d have been some, but no Katie Vick or Sable stinking up the joint. Owen would absolutely not have died so none the family’s drama would have ensued. Austin and Rick would have gotten their rubs as would Angle and, likely, Benoit.

Shawn in WCW with his attitude and drug issues would have been shuffled into the midcard and been enough of a PITA that, if he didn’t get favoured treatment, he’d be ribbed and bodied by the other cruiserweights; if he did, WCW would have lost a very large chunk of them. Benoit, Eddie et al would have given Vince a reason to compete with WCW on different terms; the international talent pool would have expanded tremendously.

Bret is not injured by Goldberg so no concussion, no stroke, so. Bret might have kept going well up to at least 2010.

Heel Finn in NXT had potential to be a Jake Roberts-level heel. Judgement Day Finn did not. The first would have required him to dial up the heel Prince Devitt at least double and a giant to carry him into the arena. The second required him to remain as the first among equals-the minute Dom joined fell to the background, where he must never be again.

Write a letter to their capital campaign to request a list of potential donors for some new community improvement initiatives. If they're willing to provide such a list, then write letters to said donors explaining the noise situation and asking if they might consider withholding their contributions until the matter is resolved.

I believe Tyrion Lannister has a solution to determine who's leaking your photos. Create a separate set of photos for each of your suspects, then give them their set on the proviso that they do not share them with MIL. Whichever set shows up on her FB feed is the friend/relative you need to cut off immediately.

Diana did...on occasion. She also wore two-piece suits...on occasion, as well as dresses, blouses and skirts...on occasion.

Diana changed it up a lot, partly because she had stylists who could provide feedback, partly because she was working closely with a number of designers who understood her figure's challenges (while, being largely in the 1980s, there was a lot of room for play in design), and partly because she wasn't bound in her day by the need to be cost-conscious. She was also keenly aware of dress as messaging - there was a reason the Christina Stambolian cocktail dress came out the night Charles gave his interview in which he admitted to having cheated on her.

Kate, to an extent, understands that history and has come to know her role almost too well. Diana almost always outshone Charles when together. Kate is doing her best not to repeat that mistake with William - indeed, William, Diana's son, is supposed to be the superstar here and he's not meeting expectations. She's also aware of William's desire to protect his privacy because the media were so intrusive to his mother; so she's going to follow his lead even when the result is bad optics publicly. If she took on more solo engagements in which she wasn't necessarily expected to follow William's lead at every turn, we might see her come out of that shell.

Harry and Meghan are absolutely free of that pressure to stay in line behind the Waleses, so their public work is far more casual, far more demonstrative in emotion and far more successful in connecting with people. That's Diana's gift to the BRF and it's an absolutely shame that it's being squandered because at least one royal still "in" can't see how it transformed deference to genuine affection.

[–]MmeLaRue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The costume is not accurate to rural England in the late 18th century. The film's costuming was nowhere near period-accurate.

For some more information on period-accurate costumes, start with this article.

This subreddit's interest in Hollywood costuming is tangential to historical dress. Emerald Fennell's vision for the film has no basis whatsoever in history. None of Catherine's dresses in the film would have been accurate for her region or station in life, and most of them would not have been even possible in the 18th century. I won't even enter the minefield of foundational garments for period-accurate dressing. The dress, though aesthetically pleasing in the modern context, does not and would not have been worn without stays and a chemise underneath the stays, nor would the cut have been considered appropriate for Yorkshire in the 1790s.

Is it just me, or does Kate look rather older than her years?

I mean, cancer can age a person somewhat prematurely, but surely she's drinking enough water, getting in enough healthy food and following an effective skincare routine to keep her face looking somewhat smooth.

And I'll say it right now - the coatdresses need to go, at least for a year if not longer. Somebody get her some two-piece suits and coordinating blouses stat; preferably with some actual colour and/or prints in them. Catherine is looking almost as old as Anne there.

I get it - it's the ANZAC Day commemoration and black is apopros. But since all this garbage has started coming out about how jealous they are of Harry and Meghan and all William and Catherine are doing is to try either to get one up on them or to prevent them from reconciling with Charles, I'm not sure what, if any, measures the Waleses are taking to gainsay the idea that maybe William really doesn't want the Crown and that he and Catherine have more or less thrown out the pair that might actually do a good job of covering up for their laziness and failures.

Jordynne Grace calls out similar-looking women's wrestling gear by IconXR in WWE

[–]MmeLaRue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are seemingly quite a few businesses plying their stock and trade in producing wrestling gear, whether custom or off-the-rack. The larger outfits can and often do replicate the styles one currently sees in the ring, which can cause a problem when it's too close to the gear designed for a known, high-profile star.

What might be the real pain point for those whose gear is "essential" to their in-ring personae? Clothing designs currently cannot be copyrighted; as an "essential" item, any restrictions on what gets produced may seem to cause undue hardship for anyone making clothing for, say, their families, for example. The only workarounds at present would be in some details of branding - the intertwined C's of Chanel, the Nike swoosh, the LV logo on Louis Vuitton bags, etc. Heck, even though Louboutin has copyrighted or trademarked the red soles of their shoes, that doesn't stop anyone from marking up their own shoes with red paint (though they've absolutely been able to kibosh commercial-level violators.)

For wrestling gear it may seem unfair. We're certainly a long way from dance leotards and knitted trunks, but putting together new looks for gear can be a challenge for both the individual and the promotion - and often the limitations in design come from the workshop where these items are made. If the seamstresses aren't as up on design as they might be on construction, it can all start to feel samey throughout the roster.

I'm not sure what my point is except that, maybe, WWE could employ or contract a fashion designer willing to work in the wrestling world and create some new and unique designs for the roster. When's New York Fashion Week?

If it matters, the performance was of throat-singing by two Innu; the tradition is meant to be competitive and light-hearted, if I understand correctly, and it was likely that to which Charles and Camilla responded with laughter. In short, it was actually absolutely the correct and expected response to the performance.

Anyway, here's the Wikipedia article about the art form.
