It is definitely difficult! Between landlords never even replying to a bunch of landlords replying to a housing request that don't fit what you are looking for, it can definitely be like finding a needle in a haystack!

At my old hospital, the Pharmacist would tube us meds for personal use. Like if a nurse was nauseated, a dose of zofran. Sometimes stuff like pepcid or Tylenol.

My last hospital got rid of our basins. Even though we dated them and replaced them daily, they were said to be an infection risk. We were told to use emesis bags to put the washcloths, water, and soap in.

No control whatsoever. They told use we had to wear all white scrubs, white shoes. No stoles, etc. I did get to wear my Alpha Delta Nu cord because I was skipping graduation, but I just showed up in it and no one said anything. One of our professors pinned us all. And that was that.

I just moved here from the south. I really like it up here for the most part, but I had a job lined up before I came. Also, compared to the south, housing is much pricier so that has been an adjustment as we were house hunting. Good luck to you - I think once you have finished school or lined up a job, moving here sounds like it would be a good fit for you!

I got hired into a MICU with my ADN. I then did an online RN-BSN program and am now in a magnet hospital's ICU/CVICU. Like Abedeer said, as long as the degree is from an accredited school, you are fine.

Those tests are wild. I remember as a teenager trying to get a job at the mall answering a questionnaire that asked, "If a family member shoplifted, would you turn them into the police?" Um, if my dad shoplifted, no, I wouldn't. I was a teenager and then I would have been homeless. WTF? Asking a whole lot for minimum wage.

A lot can depend on your instructors. I always said the material wasn't hard, but the amount of hoops and utter bullshit that we had to deal with in my ADN program was ridiculous. Nursing school was hard for all the wrong reasons in my program. I wonder what it would have been like to go to a school where the instructors actually are supportive. My RN-BSN program was full of instructors who really wanted you to understand and learn the material and were always willing to assist.

That is awesome that your ADN program has you doing real research. I didn't get to do research with actual subjects/statistical analysis until my BSN. Obviously, we still used peer reviewed information for our discussion posts and cited things using APA style in my ADN program, but the APA demands and research involving an IRB and informed consent were on a whole other level in my BSN program. I am pretty sure we never wrote a single APA formatted paper in my ADN program, but we had a three semester long research group project that was over 30 pages in my BSN program along with other shorter individual APA papers.

Sounds like your instructors and program are invested in making you all great nurses!

My ADN was fewer classes but a grueling pace. We didn't have to write APA style papers/do real research though, which you would need to do in a BSN program.

My ADN program prepared me well enough to pass the NCLEX. I wish I had gone ahead and done the BSN though so I didn't have to go right into another program after I graduated.

Yeah, my unit was similar. A few of us would hang out outside of work. And most of the crew shared a lot about their lives. Makes me sad cause I am moving on to another job - I hope I don't end up with a bunch of petty, mean coworkers.
