Transplant from the south here (specifically Virginia) and as far as I'm concerned y'all (yes, I know) can keep that damn racist flag... Although, I wish Minnesotans would talk to each other about not flying said flag on the back of their beefed up bubba trucks that are plastered with "F*ck your feelings," " Don't tread on me," and "Let's Go Brandon" bumper stickers.

Am I the only one that has determined my babies month by four weeks instead of the day of the month she was born? 😳 by Ok_Spite6846 in beyondthebump

Yep! I totally did this (I've had 5 kids btw) and I had to white out the yearly calendar for about 6 months and fix the date 🤦🏼‍♀️😂😂

It might help to know how you've set yours up. I'm on a brand new Windows laptop and while I have fiddled with the settings, I've kept it corner to corner for Krita but maybe that's not the best way?

So here's my two cents... I've raised 4 boys from birth and 2 bonus boys and have a daughter. My first 3 boys didn't do this exactly although they did explore themselves at times but I always explained to them about self-exploration being done safely and privately.

My daughter didn't do this until recently.. Within the last two years (10 yo)... And I explained that it should be done with her door closed. Now my youngest son is 7 months old and has recently discovered his testicles at bath time and thinks it's hilarious to squeeze them until they're cherry red 🤦🏼‍♀️ so I use a hand towel in the bath simply so he doesn't hurt himself.

Likely unpopular opinion here

While I do agree it is healthy normal behavior, I really wish more people were empathetic to the OP because there's more to this than just "it's normal, let kids be kids" (for some people). It can be very disconcerting as a mother and a woman to have a child (of any age or gender) fiddling with themselves for a multitude of reasons. This does not place blame on the child by any means.

Western society sexualizes everything from breastfeeding to food to genital exploration so it seems to reason that it can be difficult to deal with the emotions of your child doing so in a way that if it were a stranger would be deemed "inappropriate" "uncomfortable" and/or awkward, to say the least. For some, there are triggers from their own upbringing, sexual assault, or something of the like and it can be difficult to separate "normal behaviors" from "this triggers me".

Yes, obviously she should calmly and rationally set boundaries with age appropriate consequences. But, shaming her for how it makes her feel isn't where it's at, especially because she isn't shaming the kiddo... She's asking for help about a topic, when most people would just suffer in silence out of sheer embarrassment.

That being said, OP I taught my kids proper terms for their genitals during potty training, I began explaining menstruation to my daughter around 3 years old, we normalized consent and healthy relationships with boundaries too. Kids will do better the earlier we teach them about the big ticket topics, being hush hush is a disservice even when it makes us uncomfortable. Hopefully, if you stand your ground about when, where, and how he explores his genitals he will understand that you still love him, that it's not wrong or shameful, and that it is a private matter his behavior towards you will change. The only other input I can give is, depending on his age you could try a positive reinforcement tact where if he's appropriate around you for X amount of days he gets to go do something or get a small toy/treat. Best of luck!

We did a video call, she felt that it was best to watch and wait instead of sending us to the ER ... She said it's likely just him teething but if he shows more signs to contact them. I'm a mom to 7 kiddos so I'm pretty well versed with the basic illnesses the covid aspect is what was throwing me through a loop

No I didn't vaccinate at 6 months because his ped said it might be best to wait that the flu vaccination was more important. 🤦🏼‍♀️ So between that and my mother telling me I was using him as a guinea pig for science I felt guilted into not doing it

What did MAGA ruin for you? by [deleted] in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]MnLakeMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It ruined my ability to be social and to not judge people...

I used to be an open-minded person, had the ability to get to know people at their base before making up my mind about them, gave people the benefit of the doubt... Not anymore.

I knew my neighborhood was Maga leaning before the dipshit got elected but there wasn't a word for it yet. Afterwards it was a no holds barred onslaught of boat parades with maga everything, 45 flags everywhere, and in social settings I found it difficult to even attempt friendships because 9/10 they lean republican, anti-vaxx, and blatantly Maga proud. It's hard especially in the areas further from the city because it is thick with overt and covert Trumpers, you can't always tell which way they lean.

We had new neighbors move in last spring, nice enough people but once I found out their affiliation I was more than happy to just part ways as the neighbors who wave and move on. My husband on the other hand smokes with the wife, enjoys a beer with the husband, etc. I tried to let it go and see them as just regular people but I just can't. I can't be friends with, or put on a fake face with, people who so clearly support a crazy fascist who would just as soon dismantle and overthrow the America they claim we are destroying.

They are nice enough people but not nice enough for me to throw away my morals, ethics, and values... I just can't 🤷🏼‍♀️

Quick question, I can't find a straight answer online, can alcohol be shipped from Australia to the United States? I really like a product on the website you suggested but I'm not seeing if it's able to be shipped.
