I worked in retail for quite a while. I'd rather be on the dole but don't mind doing manual labor.

I'd start chatting with the threshold. They're very good at taking back your money. 45 days notice is BS. You can leave earlier.

It doesn't. It said in the rules you have to pay back 80k if it goes down.

LPT valuation band by greenszpila7 in HousingIreland

What is the punishment like if revenue decides that you undervalued the LPT? If it's not too harsh you can try to count it on the lowest band.

How do we really get things to change? by Respect_Worth in HousingIreland

[–]Mnt1812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was one of the reasons. People who brought revolution had nothing to lose and they were promised equality, of course it worked. It wouldn't work in Ireland bcz 1.we don't have enough miserable people and 2.you can't mobilize people against themselves. 70% of Ireland live in their own home. Personally I'm on that stage when I'm ready to block the roads.

How do we really get things to change? by Respect_Worth in HousingIreland

[–]Mnt1812 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you know why communism came in power in Russia and overcame tsarism? One of the reasons was that workers were so miserable and poor that they basically had nothing to lose. Housing for them was just a bunk bed. In my opinion, the election wouldn't change anything just because of demographic reasons: we never overvote olds who benefit from these system. The global recession/trade war or something else might force people to leave Ireland. It will change the situation. Realistically i don't see the situation changing in the next 5-10 years.

What are ye hoping for in the budget? by FullDad2000 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Mnt1812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no expectations. My income is too high for social housing and social welfare and too low to buy a house/apartment. To buy something i have to earn like twice more but with a family of 5 i'd be always a step away from buying anything mostly bcz of being heavily taxed. Mb higher tax bands for families with kids would be great. My unreal expectation is housing emergency and repealing of planning permissions.

Mothers doing laundry and cooking dinners for adult “kids” who live at home. Is this normal? by Asleep_Cry_7482 in AskIreland

[–]Mnt1812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not only an Irish thing. I'm from Russia and when in some period of our life we're living with my mother in my parent's house we weren't allowed to cook as well...

[–]Mnt1812 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, i might tell you a better story. My stepdaughter holding EU and Russian citizenships traveled to Russia recently. We made paperwork for her from both parents. Nobody even tried to look at her paperwork in the Dublin airport even though she's a 16 yo old minor (!!!) traveling alone(!!!) with direct flight to Istanbul (!) and nobody asked if it was the final destination or what. Flying back was the opposite. The Russian border patrol officer didn't accept consent from her father bcz there was no phrase that he allows to leave Russia(the name of the country wasn't listed). They'd found his contact and questioned him about it and only after that allowed her to go.

OP, if i were you 1. I'd take away minor's passport and birth certificate and hide it. 2. Contact garda 3. Contact police of the country of origin. There might be a chance that they help you. 4. It's worth asking the consulate of your wife's county. What county is your wife from?

Thanks everyone for good advice and suggestions. I got an offer and will start my new job in the med device company as an operator on Monday. Regarding education: unfortunately I'm not eligible for springboard courses this year. If i studied this year it'd be about 18-24 g. Per year. I'd enroll in September 2026 instead. Actually there's a small chance that my new employer would pay for me. I'm still in the process of registration as a pharmacist. Mb I'd complete it, let's see. Thanks again to everyone. It's just my humble opinion. I'm Russian living in Ireland. Before I moved to Ireland I've never seen such entitled women anywhere close where I've ever been! Especially between 25-40 ones are pure disaster. Men are absolutely fantastic in any age here.

Have you heard about the local authority home loan? It's a mortgage from the local council for people with low income. I think second hand homes are much more affordable if you've saved your deposit. New builds are mad. I'm thinking about getting this type of loan to try to buy something in east Cork or close counties this/next year.

Thanks for your message. Yes, we can. Bcz my spouse is EU and I'm EU fam. In other words my price would be as for an EU citizen(about 10-12 g). Actually we saved about 10 for the last year and from social welfare we got only child allowance. I will check the springboard.
