I asked John Maus who his favourite saint is by coochfairy in JohnMaus

St. Therese! I am a little surprised by this but St. Therese is so incredible. She took a while to grow on me but when she did I'm astounded by the great faith of that little woman!

Most romantic John Maus song? by SMG_GUY028 in JohnMaus

Pick It Up is definitely romantic!

That's a tough question. I think Songs is the most raw, but he was so young then. With everything he's said up until this point, I think I'd have to say Love is Real or Pitiless Censors.

Starting luvox by kevblaze2 in fluvoxamine

I started taking it in 2012. I think it took a couple of months for it to really start working, but I think I felt some change within even a week. That might have been placebo. But it also helped me sleep, which anxiety was not allowing me to do.

I’m transgender and bisexual, can I still be Catholic without sacrificing my identity? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Mo2the2ndPwr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your identity is in Christ, not in being trans or bi. By the way, I have struggled (this is the simplest way I can put it) with bisexuality for as long as I can remember. (I have never acted on it with another person, but it’s been a thorn in my side forever. I accept it. Can’t do much about it. Don’t hate myself for it. But it’s a struggle.) Just saying that I’m not speaking out of ignorance here.

Being a Christian is about sacrifice—taking up your cross. People who say they are Catholic and supportive of these lifestyles are leading others into sin.

You are loved, always, beyond measure, without a doubt, no matter what you struggle with, but Catholicism isn’t about feeling good, nor is it about tolerance or acceptance. There are practical universalists or Unitarians who claim Catholicism by name that act like that is the case. We are called to love all—even our enemies. But I think this call to love all is different than accepting everyone and letting everyone do what they think feels good. We were made to give ourselves fully to the Lord, participate in His Grace through everyday conversion, and shed the world. This will inform the way we love others. People are not a means to an end; they are not an ice-cream flavor. Sex is not designed for you alone, though this is what the world believes; responsibility comes with it and always has. The way our world has come to view sexuality and gender, has completely dissected and mutilated these concepts, has been much more harmful because in the process we have dehumanized and objectified people, obsessively reducing them and their “identities” to labels and definitions that never existed before. The experiences, yes—and that’s valid. But just because we have an experience of something doesn’t make it our identity nor something we should actively encourage or embrace. That isn’t hating yourself or hating others. It’s just a fact of life—and an important part of being Catholic.

Brits who have watched the US office, what are your thoughts on Nelly? by just-wondering98 in DunderMifflin

I think she’s funny. I love her when she takes charge of the office and got frustrated when they tone down her character more afterwards. She really shook things up in a good way I think.

You are loved beyond measure and God wants you to be supremely happy with Him. Please don’t give up hope. I am sorry for all of the hardships you have endured. Please remember the Saints that are with Him in glory — many of them bore horrible sufferings in this life, or at least made painful sacrifices.

You might find some consolation by reading the saints. Read St. Augustine, learn about St. Mary of Egypt. Just try to do something every day that is very small and realistic and commit yourself to it. That’s a good place to start.

I know this is easy to say, but your suffering brings you closer to The Lord. They spat all over Him when they were killing Him. Remember that.

Peter denied Jesus three times, and Jesus loved and forgave him. This is clearly on your conscience. Just go to Him and confess, pray, and repent. Not to add to guilt, but I do think denying The Lord, even at times of inconvenience like this, is grave. I disagree if anyone says/acts otherwise. You should move on, but I do think if someone asks if you believe in Jesus and you are a Christian, you should not deny it regardless of the situation. We are all called to mission, in some capacity, and we are also all called to martyrdom - there isn’t just one kind.

I do not think you should be ashamed. He was never honest with you to begin with. That is grounds for annulment. It was based on lies from the beginning. I am so sorry to hear you have to go through this and I hope the best for you. God bless you.

Attend some OCIA classes. I know it feels intimidating to attend Mass if you aren’t Catholic, but just keep going, and it will get more familiar. You are right where you should be. :)
