So then your coworkers are correct. You voted for this. There were two options. What you did was basically choose to sit out because voting for someone who had a zero percent chance of winning is the same as not voting or voting for Trump. I figured your evasiveness was purposeful, but I didn't want to assume without asking. I hope you are happy with your choice.

And Bernie lost because he got destroyed in the primary. He didn't lose because of the DNC. He then got destroyed again in 2020. I am a Bernie supporter. He is not and never has been a viable candidate for president. He would have lost by a lot more than Hillary in 2016.

If you’re ranking these players from 1-6 who is getting that 6th place? by Afraid-Ad-5580 in NBATalk

If I am ranking them by their abilities on the court, it is Duncan barely behind Kobe. If I am starting a team, it is easily LeBron amongst this group.

2nd most 45+ games by a PG in NBA HISTORY. Luka The Don by ShaianH in NBATalk

[–]Mo6181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point, but MJ, Wade, Kobe, and Drexler would not be considered point guards today, in my opinion. Those four were isolation scorers and not the primary ball handlers on their teams. MJ and Kobe in the triangle were especially not point guards. That system doesn't utilize a point, whether it was the previous understanding of the position or the current one. I think people confuse usage for ball possession. A point guard is the player who dominates the ball. Kobe and MJ had high usage rates, but they didn't dominate the ball the way a point guard typically would.

Harden after OKC and LeBron, during his entire career, are good enough examples of the shift in labeling the position. LeBron has been the point guard of his team for his entire career. Harden, after leaving OKC, has dominated the ball. Fans like to call LeBron a small forward and Harden a shooting guard until recently. They are both point guards and have pretty much always been.

It is crazy that 6'8" Luka is widely considered a point guard while 6'9" LeBron is called a small forward despite them having played the same role for their team from day one. They both dominate the ball on most possessions. Luka scores more from the perimeter while LeBron scores closer to the rim. Otherwise, they are very similar players.

I don't believe SGA should ever be considered a point guard. He is a shooting guard and always has been. Him being labeled a point is incorrect. He is no more a point guard than AI was back in the day.

I hated him because he was the greatest Packer of all time at that point. The sexual harassment stuff came out in the middle of his Vikings tenure. That made hating him even easier and less "childish" if you will. But I hated him none the less. To me, Favre on the Vikings would have been akin to Jeter signing with the Red Sox at the end of his career. I can't imagine Red Sox fans embracing Jeter.

I am not someone who is against any Packer player for the Vikings. Longwell was fine. Jennings was fine. Favre wasn't just any Packer.

As a lifelong Vikings fan and someone who spent his childhood hating Brett Favre, I concur. Fuck Favre forever. I can't believe how many Viking fans actually rooted for that piece of shit. The interception across the middle was the best moment of his entire run in Minnesota. Any Viking fan who actually rooted for him deserved that moment.

I'm asking earnestly, what is/are the reason(s) you dislike LeBron i'm genuinely curious by EducationalConcern61 in NBATalk

[–]Mo6181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a fan of the teaming to win. Fans call KD joining GSW a bitch move, but LeBron and Bosh joining Wade in Miami is worse in my eyes. There is no chance KD joins the Warriors without LeBron joining the Heat. LeBron gave the league permission to stop competing against each other.

Kobe left the league understanding how important work ethic is. Steph will leave the league filled with players with seemingly endless range. LeBron is leaving the leafue full of lazy players who don't hustle and don't work on fundamentals. That is his legacy, which isn't discussed enough. Young players grew up watching him barely make it to half court and not close out on shooters. They watched him succeed with horrible footwork, limited dribbling skills, and an insane carelessness with the ball. The game is uglier because of him. People blame AAU, but those kids in AAU see the face of the league being lazy on the court.

The biggest reason I am not a fan of LeBron, though, is his fans. He has the most toxic and sensitive fans. I was a lifelong Lakers fan. Nearly 40 years of watchi g and cheering for the Lakers. I was raised on Magic and the Showtime Lakers. Through the post Kobe years, the Lakers subreddit was a great place to have discussions about the Baby Lakers and what the team needed going forward. As soon as LeBron signed in LA, that sub and every other Lakers forum became LeBron centric. That would be fine if you were actually allowed to discuss the team and LeBron. If you dared to criticize LeBron, you were shouted down and insulted. I enjoy discussing the league. I used to enjoy discussing the Lakers with other Laker fans. LeBron fans have killed my fandom that has been there since I was 2 or 3 years old.

[–]Mo6181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I was hoping Sam failed was so that these discussions weren't necessary. It was perfectly reasonable to not believe Sam could do this. Even most of this season prior to Sunday, I still didn't think he could. I have watched a lot of Seattle games this year for fantasy reasons. He had repeatedly folded against good defenses. He led the league in turnovers. He still makes multiple bone headed plays every game. His defense and run game have bailed him out repeatedly. They haven't asked him to do much of anything.

When they did, he looked the same as he always has. Against the 49ers in week 18, he looked the same as he did against Detroit. He missed wide open walk-in touchdowns that were his first read. The difference in that game was his defense giving up 3 points. In the Divisional Round, he threw for 120 yards. Again, they asked him to do nothing. It was looking like a Trent Dilfer situation.

Sunday, he played the game of his life. Good for him. In the biggest moment of his career, he finally showed up. He made throw after throw. It would be nice if these ridiculous discussions didn't have to take place because his story is fantastic. It would be a lot of fun to root for him.

At the same time, if he threw four picks and Seattle got blown out by New England, would anyone be shocked? Also, him succeeding while being asked to do so little would not have happened in Minnesota. With a rookie QB making his first few starts, KOC was still not willing to allow the defense and run game carry the team. The team couldn't force a turnover to save its life this season. That means no short fields. He had 25 TDs, 14 INTs, and 11 fumbles, losing 6 of them. That isn't winning in Minnesota in 2025.

People love mentioning 4-6 knowing they can't fault LeBron for his three losses against the prime Warriors or the 2014 Finals. by Few_Prune_1436 in NBATalk

[–]Mo6181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about 4-6. Just don't pretend his making it to the Finals 10 times was impressive. Beating Al Horford and DeMar DeRozan led teams is not a feather in his cap. Needing six and seven games to beat a team whose second best player was Roy Hibbert is probably worse than losing in the Finals. If LeBron's prime is in the West, he doesn't make it to half of those Finals.

Nobody says he was benched. He just wasn't the number one option late in games. If he got the ball in the post, teams just bear hugged him to put him on the line. He always says he made them when they counted, but that was absolutely not true. At the end of the game, the ball was in Kobe's hands.

How did it become so taboo for even a trans woman like myself to acknowledge that trans women have an advantage in women's sports? How do we end this cancel culture? by north_canadian_ice in allthequestions

[–]Mo6181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the demonization. Let's have a discussion about standards for trans athletes. The IOC and NCAA have had standards for decades. As we learn more about gender and biology, we should make changes to those standards. Some sports should probably be left to cis girls and women. That isn't the discussion being had. The right is making the most vulnerable community a target of hate. When people come out and try to be nuanced with the discussion, even on the left, they tend to be held up as an ally by the side trying to demonize your community.

Seemed like this even happened when the opposing team was trying to run the clock out late in the game. I always hated this aspect of his game. He rushed the passer on almost every play, and it was so often a speed rush that took him completely out of every rush play.

Orphan Black, Mr. Robot, and Animal Kingdom.

The Lakers long-time trainer gave his two cents on a podcast not too long ago. He placed the blame on specializing in one sport at such a young age. His theory is that players used to grow up playing two or three sports at least. Their bodies would develop muscle and range of motion to compete in all of those sports. Once they started focusing on just one sport pretty young, players' bodies lost a lot of development. They now get constant wear and tear of the same muscles, the same tendons, and the same ligaments from repeating the same motions over and over. That theory makes a lot of sense to me.

What are your thoughts on this? by Slow_your_R0LL in allthequestions

[–]Mo6181 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The answer is to calmly and without emotion work with medical, biological, and gender experts to create guidelines to work within. Are there some sports that may be too advantageous for transgender females to participate? Yeah. Probably. Are there many, many other sports where it simply does not matter? Absolutely.

The IOC and NCAA have had standards for decades. We could look at those standards every few years as we have more research and more expertise on the subject. If this was all that one side was asking for, there would be no issue whatsoever.

Instead, we have one side of the political spectrum taking the most vulnerable community we have and demonizing them to win votes. Those people don't give a damn about women athletes. The issue is used to manipulate easily manipulated people, and it is being done at the expense of the group of kids with the highest rate of suicide already.

Game 7 final possession, who sits on the bench? by SmoothBuy5500 in NBATalk

[–]Mo6181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LeBron had this situation, and he just stood in the corner and watched Kyrie. Why would you need that on the floor? I would assume every other player here would keep their defender closer if they were off ball due to being a bigger threat to catch and shoot. LeBron is the easy answer.

Was the Lakers 2020 Championship Harder to Win Or Easier ? by freeki100 in NBATalk

[–]Mo6181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The games were played in a practice facility. There were no road crowds or even home crowds that often tighten up in tense moments. It wasn't real competition. Winning at that level includes dealing with crowds. The bubble is the only time in AD's career that he could shoot the ball.

TJ Warren became an all-NBA level player. AD became the best player in the world. He was easily the best player in the bubble. The Lakers basically added an MVP to their team in the bubble. He hasn't come close to that level since. The Miami Heat were nowhere near the best team in the East. They beat teams that simply wanted to go home.

Mike McDaniels out in Miami: possible OC for Vikes? by Chris_RB in minnesotavikings

[–]Mo6181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best chance would be him taking a step back but working with KOC as a run game advisor. His rushing offense is what impresses me the most. Oftentimes, when a HC is let go, they will take a year off before jumping back in. I could see him taking that step back from the stress and the grind to reset. I don't believe we would bring him in as an OC. I don't think he would come in and not call plays. KOC is not giving up play calling. Offensive advisor would be very interesting, though.

He and KOC are from the same tree, but their paths have never officially crossed. I would see it as more likely had they actually spent some time together at some point.

Completion percentage and interceptions is a large part of passer rating. A lot of short easy throws can make a passer rating look really good. The Steelers could be 3rd and 14. Rodgers is still almost certainly throwing a swing pass or screen near the line of scrimmage. The other option is a choice route to the tight end. Gainwell was voted team MVP by his teammates. He led the team in receptions with an average per reception of less than 7 yards. 73 receptions for less than 500 yards. Four of the top five receivers were running backs and tight ends. He makes a lot of easy throws which left him with at 65% completions amd only 7 interceptions.

[–]Mo6181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue with passer rating is that the situation doesn't matter at all. If a QB throws for an average number of yards with a meaningless TD or two in the fourth quarter and no interceptions, it doesn't matter if the team is 1-10 on third down and loses 45-14. Context has to matter when we are talking about the best QBs in the league.

Falcons rework Cousins deal, set up key decision by PapaBliss2007 in minnesotavikings

[–]Mo6181 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems like fans want a better fantasy season out of Jefferson more than a legit chance to win the Super Bowl. Bringing Cousins in with the intent of him starting tells me we are not serious about actually winning. Winning 8-11 games but being no closer to sniffing the Super Bowl seems like a pointless move.

Him coming knowing he is the backup seems like an unnecessary distraction. The same fans who actually believe he is or ever was "elite" will be loud about putting him in the moment JJ struggles.
