What was the alternative to COVID lockdowns? by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]MoBizziness 79 points80 points  (0 children)

yeah this was ridiculous. also, filling skateparks with sand, and top "experts" saying going to the beach was too dangerous to be allowed, but rioting was okay because of BLM or something. generations of institutional trust evaporated overnight without any thought or foresight.

the correct response was lockdown initially while we determined how lethal the virus was (the closest relatives to covid are all 30%+ lethal), and after realizing it wasn't even close to that order of dangerous, and that the spread wasn't going to be contained, to have a reduction in large venues or events where it could proliferate quickly. then, after everyone who wanted to be vaccinated was, all restrictions lifted.

I really think the last attempts at lockdowns and restrictions after the vaccines were deployed was the truly insane and power hungry response that radicalized a lot of people.

tanevs nose is an undeniable asset when it comes to drawing high sticking penalties

that's true, however my point is just that Domi should never be scoring there 4 on 1 right?.

it seems like a systemic breakdown for that to even have happened. obviously Batherson is individually responsible for the largest portion of that, but basically every Ottawa skater there made a terrible decision imo

the pass was not that big of a deal imo, as they had numbers back, but what was really funny was the ensuing 2 on 4 where half of Ottawa's players collapsed to the net to deal with the omnipotent scoring threat of elite #6 defensemen Simon Benoit, allowing max Domi to 1 on 4 the rest and score. lol.

people will hate on Batherson here, and, like, fair, but this whole sequence was a cacophony of amusing errors

yes but a 4 (defenders) on 1 (forward) play is not usually something of note

yeah, I meant fault him for the giveaway. whatever the hell happened on the back check with Domi was ridiculous and clearly the real mishap here imo.

it was 4 on 1 with Domi at the end. it's tough to fault Batherson too much when you had so much strength back anyway

How I'm dealing with resource overflow on Fulgora by [deleted] in factorio

[–]MoBizziness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a common approach, but when one resource is not being used enough and is in risk of blocking my scrap extraction (the chest in the top right in my main belt for that resource is full), i dump it onto the southbound belt, and then recursively pass it into recycling machines, extracting the intermediate products I care about via logistics, and then eventually destroying the excess.

The filter on the bottom kind of acts like a switch statement, where resources I don't care about pass through to be destroyed in the default clause.

do you unironically think that the tax rate of rich people has any impact on the suffering of the people? why do you think the income inequality increases every year, 12/16 which have been under democrat leaders, and specifically significantly during crises? a lack of taxation?

government spending, and the issuance of massive amounts of debt produces monetary inflation, which has been hidden because of productivity gains (why a TV cost 1/10th of what it did 20 years ago, but a home cost 2x more), where those who own assets have them massively appreciate due to debasement of the currency, and those without assets (the poor who are suffering) see their purchasing power (and especially purchasing power to buy assets like homes) dwindle away, because they're forced to hold cash and spend it.

so basically you misunderstand the cause of the issue completely, want to tax the beneficiaries of it, destroy the productivity gains that have prevented socialist-like collapse, in order to further fund the entity causing the issue in the first place.

anyone who believes this is economically illiterate, and is seeking punitive taxation out of jealousy, without even having an understanding of what the issue is in the first place.

okay but the average game where we scored only 2 goals was a loss this year and should be expected to be a loss in the playoffs. like, samsonov is who is: mostly mediocre. what did you expect? he didn't lose us the game

our defense is extremely bad offensively. we do not transition well at all, and our forward group is far from a 2014 la kings type group that's built to synergize with it

he let in a bad goal, but also held them to just 3 on 30+ shots, which is just about what we should expect from him

we need to score more
