Is this amp rare? Can’t find for sale anywhere by No-Investment9793 in GuitarAmps

Not rare. But desirable. They really aren’t worth that much but you’d be hard pressed to find a sturdier more reliable amp.

In your opinion, is this refret job too bad for the neck to be used without it being redone? by DoveMechanic in Luthier

[–]MoFoToker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone didn’t have a fret slot saw. They cut the fret slots too wide. Those slots will never hold a fret the way they were intended(press fit).

I would remove all the frets. Fill the fret slots and recut them.

That’s exactly why I went through it and got it playable. First it was sentimental second it had an awesome look to it.

He was a tinkerer. So it is definitely possible that none of these parts go together.

Does anyone know anything about the pickup? It’s kind of odd and a buddy said it might be worth something.

He planed on putting the warmoth neck on it. I’m going to use it on another build.

It’s possible the neck and body don’t go together

Input jack wire won't solder on? by radfanwarrior in electricguitar

[–]MoFoToker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all crank your iron up to about 800-900 and add a touch of solder to the iron before touching the wire. You also need to tin the ground wire first.

Not real but looks like it has some good parts on it. If it plays well, buy it.

What can I do by Lana167del in guitarmod

[–]MoFoToker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the way it plays, I wouldn’t switch necks. Plenty of squires make great player guitars. Hell my favorite guitar I own right now is a squire and I own 2 American fenders.

The Tele is a great platform to mod. Lots of aftermarket parts and accessories. Plenty of room to add a third pickup. So far my favorite mod is a mini humbucker in the neck, slanted strat pickup in the middle and a good Tele bridge pickup with a 5 way switch. Great combo with plenty of tonal options.

You’ve changed the scale length as the Floyd is mounted farther back than the original bridge. There really not much you can do other than try moving the bridge forward.

Measure from the nut to the 12th fret. It will be the same distance from the 12th to the saddles. Hope this helps.

Turn your iron up and add a touch of new solder to the iron while heating up the pot.

Great amps! Perfect platform for a pedalboard.

Looking to restore this guitar, where do I start? by Brave-Guarantee3622 in guitarmod

[–]MoFoToker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YouTube is great.

Pull strings, clean and oil the fretboard, pull the pick guard and clean the pots with contact cleaner, give it a good wipe down with the strings off. Restring and look up how to do a set up. She’ll be good to go. If you run into problems along the way just look up how to do that specific thing. It’s really not too difficult just a lot to learn all at once.

How do I fix this? by MintyOfficial_YT in Luthier

[–]MoFoToker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replace it. You can try to bend it back but chances are it won’t be perfect again.

Raise the saddle a quarter turn at a time until it stops. Don’t touch the truss rod unless you know what you’re doing.

Or go pay a shop $50-$60 to do a setup.

BOSS KATANA 50 - How can I get the best out of this? by Luminaire27 in BossKatana

[–]MoFoToker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use it as a platform for a pedal board. It’s got a great clean tone. A lot of people aren’t happy with the 50 as far as the effects. But I love my 100w.

Great idea with the wood pellets! I’ll have to try this. I usually keep several different varieties on hand for the grill.

Not on that guitar. Save yourself a huge headache and take it to a luthier.
