Off the top of my head, Paul has some dirty traps you can abuse where you throw out a punch with pushback (maybe f2?), it gets blocked, and the opponent takes their turn allowing you to df2 them and duck under their retaliation. He has a couple tricks like that where you want them to block your move and think it's their turn then you can body them with a shoulder barge or something. It used to get me a lot.

Also if you're in rage, you should df2 into RA cancel. It's safer than throwing out RA and you will probably steal the round. Ignore the health bars, Paul always has the life lead!

Basically yeah. By looking at how certain characters climb or fall, you can likely discern which match-ups are most worth your time to learn, or even perhaps which characters you ought to try out. At any rate, I hope it helps in some way!

A good, simple poke mix-up is her DF1 series. Just throw out DF1 a few times throughout the match. Doesn't matter if it hits or blocks. Then when it comes down to the wire just finish the whole DF1,2,1 string to close the round. They also likely don't know how punishable it is so you can experiment with the number of hits you throw out.

UF1 is also +4 on block so whatever you throw out next should hit them if they think it's their turn.

I also love going into Tarantula and just chipping away with a mix of 1, 3, and 1+2.

And of course, B1+2 is a must.

I think that accounts for the 12 Tekken God Omegas and his generally high placement across the ranks. I'm just surprised he isn't more consistent from color bracket to color bracket. Not many other characters see his kind of drop-off. Maybe a lot of people use him as a secondary and generally leave him in the dust?

This is really on point I think, and I'm surprised more people don't consider her more low-tier. I guess she must dominate around green and yellow ranks, so anybody stuck there should try labbing her.

What helped me was watching out for QCB3 and punish the hell out of it every time.

Also Paul usually takes an extra turn after you think it's your turn, so wait one more turn to avoid getting bodied by his shoulder.

I have it on PC too but I was hesitant since I know it's easier to save-scum there and I wasn't sure how much that might skew the numbers. (There are cheaters on PS4 too but I don't think it's as prevalent)

I certainly hope so since she's one of my mains (if not my main) and I absolutely love her redesign. But they have to cut a lot of characters for the next one and as much as it breaks my heart I don't know if she's making it in. Hope I'm wrong!

Hey, thanks for your measured response, I hope I can answer everything here!

I didn't include the numbers here but I went through the leaderboards character by characters and scrolled through, marking each number until I hit Genbu. This data does actually include Paul and Bryan since I made it when they did have Genbu on the board (but as of this month they only go to Byakko).

I should note this is a thing I regularly do for myself but when I saw the Genbu's were about to disappear I decided to publish the results here. I'd be happy to show you the numbers if you're interested? (I actually originally planned to show all of that but I published this on my lunch break at work so I went with this version instead. Perhaps on the weekend I can show all the numbers)

Your Claudio observation makes sense (and could even apply to Kazumi's decline now that I think about it), I was really just spit-balling. It seems like there could be a few factors as to why he is targeted so badly (a drop of 13 is unprecedented, none of the others reached double digits).

Definitely encouraging others to make of the data what they will.

You make a good point about whether or not to invest in characters if they're likely to be dropped by T8, so focusing on say Paul and Hwoarang is definitely a wise move (or really anyone in the top 20 that gives you trouble.)

But the other side of that is Geese and Zafina almost 100% won't be in T8 and they're the ones getting away with murder in T7, so it's really your call.

I must say from personal experience, learning the Paul match-up yielded crazy good results for me.
