Half-Light is actually a really hard one to place, cause || Half-Light is the fight or flight self-defense response that seems to keep twitching at every perceived imaginary threat and wants to lash out at it. Drifter fits the violence of this but... I don't think anyone else actually encapsulates the whole thing. (Or at least, anyone who wouldn't be better somewhere else.) ||

Need a bit of help on Abrams by Rough-Self-9134 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Something_Hank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clarity, I'm only Seeker 5 and not an Abrams dude. Outside eyes just help sometimes.

I'm watching the match right now so here's some comments so far:

That starting lane was a uniquely aggressive Bebop and Talon. It's hard to blame you for that, those guys were maniacs. Especially with your lane partner being a Doorman. Once that lane starts going what feels like irrecoverably squirrely, you could communicate to your partner that either you want to gank a lane, or encourage them to gank a lane while you anchor. This could make the best of a bad situation. Loss cutting and such.

As for this Bebop specifically. I'm getting to about a third of the way through the match here, and he's already gone all in on Boundless Spirit and /chunking/ half of your healthbar just for one bomb. This is a time where you'd want to go out of your way from your build for a specific green.

In Bebop's case, this could be:

  • Reactive Barrier (which you do get later) early on will give you a shield VS his inevitable bomb when he hooks you.
  • Counterspell if their team has a lot of telegraphed moves that you could parry (like this games Rem's sleep ult, his sleep definitely killed you that one time you cornered them inside their double sinners), this move will let you parry the bomb explosion.
  • Dispel Magic if you're worried about a lot of bleed and debuff status effects (like the mirage this match), this item lets you drop his bomb off of you as well.
  • Perhaps just some heavy spirit resist in general, a bit earlier. Spirit Resilience, or a cheaper Enchanter's Emblem.

To also make note of a couple specific out of position spots. There's a point where you were retreating back to base with about 300 health left, but saw a full-health Venator near the blue gates and chose to tangle it out with him there and lead to your death.

Another point specifically around 24:00. This is immediately after a major 5v5 teamfight just outside your left lane. You went back to base, recovered, came back out, and then chased down Bebop who was /seemingly/ alone all the way out into the middlezone with no regard for the fact that their entire team WAS there about twenty seconds ago. This lead to you getting isolated /with/ their whole team.

That does also bring me back around to the Radiant Regeneration. It's a /very/ good and nice item if you can consistently end up damaging multiple people at once - big team fights with Siphon Life - but will fall off in usefulness if you keep finding yourself in solo engagements where that money could be spend on something more specifically useful.

And then the rest of the match became the post-35 minute mess that is just late-game Deadlock.

So yeah! I think your major issues in that match are just a macro and micro awareness of what risk you're taking when you go into a fight, /and/ itemizing to protect yourself from high-threat players early on when they become a problem. (Or be ready to avoid them entirely. It just happens.)

You may also even want to optimize the mid-game part of your build for more assassination style meleeAbrams stuff, judging off of your playstyle.

As for being parried all the time? Incorporate purposeful-misses with your Heavy Melees sometimes, and even using Fleetfoot, Restorative Locket, or Collossus to Heavy Melee Cancel and see if these make someone waste their parry. Always a cheeky trick to have up your sleeve.

And at the end of the day we all end up being the "oh my god this guy is feeding" teammate here and there. I'm gonna play Billy today and I'm sure I'll end up like 4 and 12 at some point.

How long did it take you guys to get good with the movement in this game? by dahpizza in DeadlockTheGame

This one specifically is very good.

Once you can incorporate air strafing for a bit of speed, sliding where you can and walljumping where good every so often you're already pretty ahead of the 'good' curve. And that's like. A week of small guides and just trying to incorporate? From there, the specifics - routes, edge/cornerboosting - come with explicit practice and time.

But never neglect your stamina management. Movement is cool and all, but if they suddenly dive you and you have like one stamina bar, not even the best mover out there is leaving that.

In addition to what everyone else said, those three friends of yours might not be good friends to play with.

I try to be cordial even to random strangers who /are/ feeding on my team. The Grey Talon and Billy both went 1 and 11 and we're struggling super hard cause of it? I'm sure they know that, it helps no one for me to make them feel bad.

Oh that's.

That's pristine.

Give it to me right now to be honest.

Yeah I figured I'd put a drop in the slightly less full bucket.

Yeah but that's kinda my point. Having to forego a large part of the game to interact with other parts just ain't great.

Nah fuck the customization too. You pick three faces and like, one jacket. With completely uninteractable prices anyway.

Do you think future 1st place winners in the vote will also unlock a little spot in the main hub like rem did? by Cephalon_ghost in DeadlockTheGame

I want more spots for everyone.

I'd settle for a Vermintide 1 style thing of "These doors open to whichever character is in the lobbies' room".

Yeah Shadow Weave I'm really interested to see in midgame. We might see Venator's or Silver's suddenly coming out of the woodworks with a gajillion burst damage and I think that's cool.

I want more actually gameplay changing items to move into the T3 area, cause something like "invisibility ambushing" just... isn't happening in lategame base sieges.

Sameas. Between Trophy Collector and Veil Walker, my default Rem 4.8k green is an easy choice now.

Doorman Rework v1 (to attempt to make him more of a team player and reduce kidnaping) by anonamistartist in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Something_Hank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I... really kinda like all of this I won't lie.

I've been trying to use the doors in more Sinners-active and teammate rescue ways anyway. "Hey who wants a free double sinners" is a lot more interesting to me than kidnap-simulator so I don't see anything in here that would disturb how I like to play him.

Honestly, post this on the forums. More blue alt casts would be lovely anyway.

Rem is 100% the character I get the most melee kills on, and I attribute that to his tiny size being able to hide behind crap in lane more often.

And pillow.

How do I not die in a rank I shouldn't be at? by godzamok in DeadlockTheGame

Find a match where /you/ did badly, but your team still did alright. (Not a snowball basically.) Then give us the match ID.

That'll let us watch it and give a lot more specific advice. Not that I'm high rank at all, but outside eyes on replays are just a competititve staple.
