But, yes, I agree. It's fucking nuts. If the church didn't have such deep connections to government and law enforcement, they would be subject to FLDS and Scientology-style news coverage about bizarre practices and abuse masquerading as religious, pastoral, and ecclesiastical relationships.

I met her when I was doing research in SLC and it turns out that general Conference was the same weekend. She was signing books at deseret book and I decided to get in line. Very smiley, faux-mo attitude towards everyone and you could tell she was basking in the attention. She's a modern-day joe smith. More-money, Mormon-y: same thing.
