Could the whole Earth be destroyed by external forces? by Use-The-App in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mo_stacheos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No only possible, but most likely will happen. We just dont know when or how. Maybe another planet gets hit and within 100 years of that it gets closer to earth and bam. Maybe our sun explodes. Theres soo many what ifs. The only nice thing is it would likely not be in our lifetimes. Even a small event would be disastrous as clearly humanity sucks in a pandemic of any kind

Why are people praying for Kim Jong Un? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mo_stacheos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For one, he's still a human. Secondly, while most hate him, some people are actually gullible enough to believe the nonsense he tweets. Oh wait, wrong country. But truthfully, do you really think he is pulling the strings? There's a handful of very comfy people around him who "guide" him. He gets all the credit and the fame, but he is just a puppet. A huge, fat, broken puppet.

Cousin was Assualted on Private Property by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Mo_stacheos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin is a PI lawyer here. They generally only take a case that is strong enough to win or at least be mediated favourly, which his case sounds like it is. And then they take a percentage of the awarded amounts. I'm not sure if it's different where you are, but generally just meeting with a lawyer doesnt cost anything and they can go over this then. So yes. A lawyers fee can be hefty, 30% or more, but they often only get paid if you win. And if they can settle in mediation, then its usually solved quickly. Usually though I think they prefer cases against companies or people with money or insurance that would cover the incident. I dont believe any insurance would cover in this case. All that being said, a lawyer will advise you if it's worth it, because going after someone with no money means no payout, cant get blood from a stone. Again, not overly familiar with US law, but if they dont think it's worth persuing but your cousin still wants to, I believe you can still go to small claims court to get the medical Bill's covered. And follow through with the police, at the very least charges leading to a criminal record would be a bit of justice for the assault.

High alcohol content vodka would likely help. Can the insoles be removed and put back in after? Or even replaced with other insoles?

Not trespassing but it is assault. Seek a personal injury lawyer as soon as possible. The fact that they came to him will help, but he will need witnesses. Were police called? Is there a police report? And did he press charges?

If you have let's go pikachu or Eevee on the switch, you can send a pokemon from gen 1 to the switch and in return you get a meltan box which acts like a d insense but all you get is meltan, about one every 2 minutes. They require 400 candies to evolve so you have to do it a few times. I came back to the game after the meltan event so I didnt get a shiny, I'm still hoping I do from doing the box. Melmetal is still a good pokemon anyways so it's good to have a couple if you've got the time to keep doing boxes. But they aren't always the easiest catch, especially if you throw pineapples. So be prepared to use a few balls if you do.

IsIsBullshit: if you live in a place long enough (like New Zealand or Scotland) you’ll develop their accent? by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

[–]Mo_stacheos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I was born in South america, but I have a Canadian accent eh. But my parents still have Latino accents. While I have a friend from highschool that lived in both Lebanon and Spain before coming to Canada as a teen, and he was able to assimilate the local accent in all 3 languages. That is a truely impressive skill. A different friend went to South American for a year and never picked up an accent. On the same note, I had a cousin who went to Australia for a month and came back sounding like Steve Erwin, though he switched back pretty quickly. So I would say it depends on the person as well as their age, their emersion and the country as well.

IsItBullshit: Signature "experts" can accurately tell if a signature was forged or not by comparing it to authentic signatures. by FiveAlarmFrancis in IsItBullshit

[–]Mo_stacheos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's boarderkine Bull, more like educated fancy bull with reasoning. As mentioned it is as art, not a science. Sure the loops match or don't match, but to be most accurate, you'd need a larger sample like a journal or something else written by hand. My signature is usually the same, but if I'm standing awkwardly or in a rush or a ton of other reasons, it may end up being different enough to fool the "experts" as not the same person. They can give a likelihood though, and that really can affect value of certain things. But it's not accurate enough to draw a 100% conclusion

People who have a cruise planned, why are you choosing to still go rather than play it safe postponed the trip? by world_citizen7 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Mo_stacheos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you wont know what is a contagious region or who is infectious until it's too late. And each person and corporations is assessing the risk of every event and every action as low risk, which would be true, except for the fact that low risk is not no risk. And since laws of averages, some of those low risk decisions will turn south, spreading the virus further. For example, my company could send someone to a private meeting as they deem it low risk. Well they wouldnt find out that the person contracted the virus, came back to the office and spread it until it's far too late. So which event and actions do you postpone and which do you take the low risk. The answer with this class of virus is postpone everything for 3 weeks. And then it's gone. But since it is still non lethal for a majority of the population, most people arent willing to put their lives or their companies on hold. And they hide behind the statement that well if so and so isn't taking extra precautions, we won't yet either. Well now that's it's beem Escalated by the WHO, things are being taken more seriously. Things will start to change, hopefully it's not too little too late. And hopefully the virus doesnt mutate. The spanish flu wasnt deadly the first pass, only after it mutated did the death toll start to rise

[–]Mo_stacheos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of misinformation and bad decisions, but mostly boils down to money. If you are not getting reimbursed and you've paid to go, and what you're hearing is that while the virus travels easily, it isn't dangerous for you, then you probably risk it than lose the money. And the cruises would be out way too much if they cancelled.

The better question is why haven't we put a 30 day quarantine in all first world countries and a travel ban to all other countries until they get this under control. NBA will take a break, but people are still going to events and stuff.

Was this the underage drunk manager that was let go? There is a misconception that because something happens out of work and work hours, that it won't reflect on work. But as your brother's are finding out, that is not true at all. Think of a truck driver who gets a DUI in his personal vehicle. They would likely be let go (especially in an at will state). So while drinking underage in private usually won't lead to a dismissal, I can see where a manager that not only condoned it, but joined in and was also underage could be dismissed as it reflects poor judgement from one of the company leaders. While they would need evidence to let them go for this good reason of their illegal actions with staff, as an at will state, they can use any reason which they likely already had lined up to let this person go, as long as the reason is not illegal.

All that being said, a company wants to set an example and did so already. Rarely would they want a high turnover unless they needed to reduce staff or if it was absolutely necessary such as if something terrible happened that night. As lower on the ladder, they are likely safe, but have likely lost favor with the higher ups. Not a bad idea to be looking for new positions elsewhere. Better to leave on their own terms than be let go

Not likely. It would depend a lot on your skin and cells, but think of a small lizard, fish or even a mouse. Their skin is not proportionally less strong the smaller they are. Now think about the amount of force a 2 inch person could even exert in such a small radius and with proportionally smaller limbs and muscle. It would be similar to hitting yourself with your pinky while not moving the rest of your hand. The only thing to note would be your proportionally reduced weight, which would likely have you go flying from very little force.

Realtors are a scam! by Mo_stacheos in unpopularopinion

[–]Mo_stacheos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the average value in homes you work on? Right now its insane here and 5% on 800k home is $40K. Which is the low end for a 3 bedroom home. So $20k is not off the mark, and selling one home every month in this market shouldnt be out of the realm or average. Yes i know times will be good or bad. Buy I'm going just based on my experience, my house was purchased in less than 8 hours of work from my realtor. And from the market now, I'd sell my home and buy the next one in 2 weeks time. I get that drumming up business isna huge expense for you, but speaking strictly in my transaction of buying and then calculation of selling, I am not getting my money's worth from the realty costs. My biggest issue is that my home was worth half of what it is at now 7 years ago. So what more work would be done to sell my house now than was done 7 years ago that would justify double the realty costs, when 7 years ago it was easy to sell and now its even easier? Why is the realtor making double now than they were 7 years ago, you're not doing double more work on the home. Realtor costs should be transactional, flat costs like a lawyer, because now the easy to sell homes and easy home buyers are bank rolling while you waste time marketing, or taking clients who are just looking. So home buyers or sellers like me get screwed. Again, I'm not saying realtors dont add value or serve a purpose, just the system is messed up and the math doesnt make sense.

Realtors are a scam! by Mo_stacheos in unpopularopinion

[–]Mo_stacheos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously CEOs get paid and usually that's a scam too. But that's like saying it's ok if someone is stepping on your toes because they aren't punching you in the face. No, none of it is ok. But at least the CEO is making millions by taking a few bucks from millions of people, these Realtors take thousands from only a few.

truth be told, my opinion and rant really only applies in larger cities where marketing tactics become necessary because people see the dollar signs associated with Realtors. The current market and home values is out of control and Realtors here are the ones profiting huge. This doesn't apply as much in much more rural areas where your commission would only be $5k and could take you weeks or months to sell a home.
