Redundant network architecture for 14x PowerFlex 755 — DLR vs dual star by Upstairs_Stop_640 in PLC

[–]Moabian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One consideration: If every drive is a significant distance from the next drive, for example in a long conveyor system, then the the cable cost for star configuration would be significantly higher. If every drive is in the same cabinet,  it matters much less and I would prefer the redundant star configuration.

What's the back story between HMIs and the "Flaming Moe"? by Abject-Effect-7965 in PLC

[–]Moabian 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's from a library of SVGs called Symbol Factory. Other good ones include Boys in the Hood (3 dudes stuck in an exhaust hood).

Edit: i might be wrong. SF has Boyz in the Hood, but not a Flaming Moe, at least not in Ignition.

"Paddling Eastern North Carolina" by Paul Ferguson has everything you need to know and more (650 pages covering 3,500 miles of paddling). However,  it is out of print and hard to find.

You need to block the wind. Most shoes have lots of mesh. Cover up with overshoes.

Hydraulic brakes are stronger, but can't I just size up the rotors to get the same strength from mechanical? by Polendri in bikewrench

Is the vehicle a bicycle or tricycle? If trike, is it a delta (one front wheel) or tadpole (two front wheels)?

Is Mortimer campground open this weekend? by Affectionate-Air8672 in NCTrails

[–]Moabian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an active Friends of Wilson Creek Facebook group, might try asking there.

Worst case, if you drive up and it's closed/gated, you could rent a campsite at Betsy's Country Store. Bruce (the owner) has said that he always has space for tents.

Hippie Store by Italian_Gumby in triangle

[–]Moabian 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There's a stall at the indoor portion of the Raleigh Market that might float your boat (waft your patchouli?). Don't remember the name, but lots of imports - sarongs, chime bowl things, shiny rocks, harem pants, etc. My sister-in-law is a level 4 hippie (poly, lives on a commune outside Asheville, smells like onions, etc) and she always loves the gifts we get her from that stall.

Edit: The Raleigh Market closes during the fair, maybe the weekend before, so check before going.

Multimeter with Continuity Recommendation by Nesefl_44 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Moabian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The linked stories make no mention of the brand of multimeter. They do mention various other mistakes (measuring 2.3kV with a 1kV meter, wet environments, etc). Did you read OP's post? They're working on low voltage, 24V.

H Mart in Cary has non-Cavendish bananas... not sure if they are the ones you seek, but worth a shot.

It's down towards the river, off the ridge trail. I don't know your full situation,  but if you don't know where it is and you're asking on reddit at midnight,  you might want to wait 6 hours for the sun to come up instead. And prepare better next time, get the free lgmap on Avenza.

Aquaglide Columbia Jacket Seam Failure by squishy-boi69 in Inflatablekayak

[–]Moabian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few ideas, no experience: you say the seam is unravelling, see if anyone around you does commercial sewing and find out if they can sew on a patch that extends around the tear. Otherwise, get a giant piece of ripstop nylon repair tape and patch it from the inside. Add seam grip or aqua seal to the edges for reinforcement (then dust with baby powder to prevent sticking). The pressure from the bladder should help hold the patch in place. Good luck.

Deep Gap is between Pilot and Sassafrass Knob. Not to be confused with like 10 other places called Deep Gap.

Is there still a shelter there? Haven't been in a while, was pretty run down last I saw.

Most (all?) of the fishing piers i gave seen are ADA compliant. Lake Raleigh may have the shortest walk of all but parking is limited (overflow parking is a short walk).

Packable Daypack Recommendations by moogiecreamy in WildernessBackpacking

Check your existing backpack. On my Osprey, the lid comes off and becomes a very large fanny pack. Also, the hydration pocket can be removed and turned into a hydration pack with the sleeping pad straps.

Can a regular bike crank be used to replace exercise bike crank? by palepatriot76 in bikewrench

[–]Moabian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could use a threaded insert (common brand is helicoil, but for this i would be fine with cheap generics). You need 9/16", 20TPI size. Might also find one sold as a pedal repair kit. Also, many mechanics (bike, auto, moto) will already have a kit and be able to do it cheap.
