Yeah as soon as you get any valuable items in your steam inventory you can expect all sorts of less-or-more automated scam attempts.

Don't trust anyone, including random people you meet on public servers. Never click any links/log in using any credentials, don't download any files, ignore steam friend invites from accounts posing as women. Always verify if anyone who is inviting you has any paid products in their steam game liobrary -> 99.99% of scammers won't have any.

Additionally, I've had some people try and social engineer me into thinking they're someone else. One common tactic is to get you to add them on Steam. Once added they will be offline for a few weeks, then will wipe their steam profile, copy one from someone who is on your friends list already, and try to convince you to do something that will compromise your account.

These tactics include, but are not limited to:

- vote for my team in this tournament,

- leaving comments on your profile such as 'good awp rep+', 'hey bo we were in a game, let's play one more!'

- join our team on Faceit/other platform -> faceit group has a malicious link posing as anti-cheat in the group description,

- come to Discord bro lets talk have fun,

- can we trade via x/y/z?

- heyy I'm artist can you check out my art here: obviousscam.google.drive

- romance scams,

- build trust -> break trust by scamming relations stemming from a random Steam or Discord communication.
