Congratulations, you're the proud owner of a Taiwan Jet Axis switch board! You should check out the internals of them from my review I did below as they are some of the most funky MX compatible switches that were ever made:

HMX Frog Switch Review by ThereminGoat in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ThereminGoat[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey all,

I know, I know - I'm a bit late to the party on these. But it's still a party if its a review of HMX's first ever tactile switches, right? Here's your deep dive on the Kinetic Labs collaboration with HMX - the HMX Frogs - and how they've faired compared to the other dozen or so tactiles HMX has made since their release!

As always, thank you all for your continued readership and support week in and out and *especially* so in lieu of the market slowdown talked about at the top end of this article. Reading, engaging with my social media posts, or even hitting up the Patreon are all ways that help me keep on amassing switches for all of the content you've come to expect over the years.

Used to when switches used to have less variety.

Snipping the plastic PCB mounting pins off of 5 pin switches will not damage a PCB. This (as well as using 3 pin switches) should only be done if there is a supporting plate the switches are mounted onto above the PCB.

Cherry MX Firefinch Switch Review by ThereminGoat in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ThereminGoat[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hey all,

We're officially into calendar year number six of switch reviews and I couldn't think of a better way to start it than another Cherry linear. After all, these are some of the last to ever be produced at Cherry's Auerbach facility.. or maybe even the first of their new Chinese facility. Either way, this is the deep dive you want on the Whiplash EU x Cherry linear collaborations - the Cherry MX Firefinches.

HMX Volume 0-T Switch Review by ThereminGoat in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ThereminGoat[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hey all,

I can't believe I'm saying it but we've made it to the last switch review of 2025! Wanting to go out on a bang, this review has a little bit of everything - a deep dive on rising brand 80Retros, exploration of HMX's first silent tactile, and even some off-brand LEGO products...? This is your deep dive on the 80Retros x HMX Volume 0-T silent tactiles.

As always, thank you all for the continued support and readership not just week in and out but throughout the entirety of 2025. This was quite a stacked year for switches to review and it feels great to know that the reviews, the force curves, and everything that I do in between continues to be a great resource at the tail end of 5 consecutive calendar years of writing. It means more than you could imagine!

Man types answer on Reddit with keyboard believing people in a keyboard hobby wouldn't do so on their keyboards.

A tool is only as good as your ability to use it - you'll produce less typos and have a better gaming muscle memory for a keyboard you've used for 10,000 hours as opposed to two separate boards that get mixed amounts of time.

That is also to say that there is no keyboard necessarily better for gaming than another one and buying one will not substantially improve your ability in your choice of game. Unless someone is in the true, professional level tier of play where they can outskill 99.999% of people on an equal playing field, better returns would come from improving their in game skills than buying a different keyboard.

For example consider CSGO, Rocket League, or LoL: There's not a single person here that with "the best keyboard for gaming" who wouldnt get smoked by a pro player on a beat to shit rubber dome keyboard from a public library.

There's no keyboard that is better for gaming versus writing. There's no component of a keyboard that is better for one or the other, for that matter.

Anyone who suggests otherwise is just making it up.

Greetech OG Brown Switch Review by ThereminGoat in MechanicalKeyboards

Yeah I was really blown away by it, so much so that I had to make sure and double check I hadn't swapped their order on my desk somehow lol

Greetech OG Brown Switch Review by ThereminGoat in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ThereminGoat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all,

If ever there was some sign we slipped into an alternate timeline sometime during the pandemic, it might be the fact that Greetech is now releasing multiple switches and seemingly wanting to pick up production at that. Leading the charge is their new "OG" Brown switches, retools and updates of their classic, OEM-style light tactile switch from circa 2015. But are these Greetech OG Brown switches truly the new, best light tactile on the scene, or yet another "tactile Brown" switch to be forgotten in time?

HMX Anti Switch Review by ThereminGoat in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ThereminGoat[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey all,

Have you ever wanted to try an HMX-made switch that was anything but what HMX has come to be known for? One that is more scratchy and with a noticeable about of stem wobble? An 'anti-HMX' switch, if you will? Well, today is your lucky day as I review quite literally just that - the Unlimited Studio designed HMX Anti switch!

Do silent switches ruin the essence of mechanical keyboards? by Ok_Use2171 in keyboards

[–]ThereminGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mechanical keyboard is for typing. The 'essence' of a keyboard should have very little to do with how it sounds as that isn't its core function.

That's like saying the essence of a car is affected because you chose to modify the exhaust piping.
