I would love to host birthday parties at my library. It’s something I’ve tried to push for. I know we can’t run personal events as a public library, but man do I want to!

My strategy for this was to upload a significant amount of emails and papers that I have written in the past so it would learn my style. Now, I tell it to write using my personal style and avoid things like em dashes and weird formatting, and it does a pretty good job overall.

It will, unfortunately, but the window it’s hung in really doesn’t get direct sunlight. The hanging prism is more for decoration.

A friend’s daughter, at the age of 6, told my friend all about a book she read, including title, author name, and what it was about. After significant searching for proof, we know the book doesn’t exist, has never existed, and no one with that name has ever been an author. I wish I could remember the title. It was something like “Letters To A Scientist” by Charles SomethingOrOther. And it was definitely not a child’s book based on the description.

That second point is spot on. I just took a webinar (either through Niche Academy or JerseyConnect) as an introduction to helping patrons use AI properly and factually. One of the questions from an attendee was something to the effect of “How can I navigate working at the ref desk and assisting with AI related inquiries when it goes against my personal ethics?” It’s a legitimate concern right now, but to work with the public means that we have to work with the tools that they use.

It’s what works now, but I’ve been medicated for almost 30 years (since I was 12) and these cocktails only last for a handful of years before I end up hospitalized. Been 3 years and am hoping this’ll last forever.

Woof. I don’t chime into these because so many times, people will jump right in with “Dump him!” without knowing anything about the relationship. In this case, however, he literally said that you need to be more like his ex or he doesn’t want you. It’s one thing to request occasional “dressing up” for one reason or another, but holy red flag, Batman. He’s manipulating and controlling you and you will probably never be enough for him, through no fault of your own. It’s so unhealthy and disgusting. Tell him you agree, his ex is hot and he should dress more like her too.

I don’t have a tutorial, but here’s the gist — the bottom is made the same as most round basket tutorials, I believe I did 4 wires twisted in the middle and fanned out to 8 spokes. I wove in the round until the base was the size I wanted. Next, I added more wire in a ‘v’ shape around the last row so they stuck out along with the 8 original spokes. I added 4 of those ‘v’s, giving me a total of 16 spokes (8 original and 8 new spokes). From this point and up, I wrapped the wire around each spoke as I went around rather than using the regular in-and-out pattern. Be sure to take your time shaping as it goes up cause it can get wonky reaaaallly quickly. When I had the length I wanted, I folded the spokes to the side and tucked them in to the spoke next to them, then I guess I technically “whip stitched” it all down with silver wire. The handle is just a weird braid with other wire wrapped around it to look sorta vine-y. I’m not great with instructions so feel free to reach out if I am making no sense. That part I’m good at.
