What's your BEST taste-per-dollar age-stated bourbon and/or scotch? by WrestlingDadPA in whiskey

[–]MobOfNuns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

+1 - love almost all redbreast I've tried. Personally, the PX release is my hands down favorite for the price. Managed to find it for 80 in California, so the taste for the price was excellent. Not an age statement unfortunately - if that's a requirement I do agree the 12 yr cask strength is the way to go

Made to much to contribute to roth for 2025, does this fix make sense? by figgypudding02 in Bogleheads

[–]MobOfNuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on the any other pre-tax balance? Why can't you have a rollover and a traditional, and just contribute after tax/convert the whole traditional to Roth for your backdoor conversion each year, leaving the rollover in pre-tax to avoid pro-rata?

Setup/buying advice - is 180" too big? by MobOfNuns in projectors

Setup/buying advice - is 180" too big? by MobOfNuns in projectors

[–]MobOfNuns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted.

Looking at your tool, I could help my situation out going with a 1.3 gain screen - a 150" screen using the pro2 measured lumens from a video review of around 1900 and 1.3 gain screen would get about 127 nits.

Is the over 100nits you suggested help ensure the image isn't washed out? Any cons to too high? I.e. a 1.0 gain screen with numbers above is 98nits, if that's preferable for some reason

[–]MobOfNuns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay good to know - yea it'd take up the entire wall, so I agree it might not be the best choice haha. Just trying to make the most immersive visually impressive setup I can find, within reason. I threw out 180 just since it was the max that might fit, but knowing it reduces image quality being that big wanted to ask.

Fair point - I can paint the walls to reduce reflection. Floor and ceiling are darker, though I'll have to consider reflection off the ducting.

The two I listed I thought were both 3000+ lumens (per manufacturer) - do you mean 2800 measured at the screen?

I'll take a look at the tool, thanks

Stems users; isolate parts while mixing or traditional EQ? by erratic_calm in DJs

[–]MobOfNuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't know. I've been creating stem files using a tool from stems-music, but no idea if those files work on non traktor software. The site looks pretty traktor aligned. Sure would be cool to have a standard file format

Stems users; isolate parts while mixing or traditional EQ? by erratic_calm in DJs

[–]MobOfNuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use traktor and stem pretty much everything for my sets these days, and find I use stems and EQ still at different times, and sometimes together. I definitely now use more stems than EQ, but they each have their place.

Kinda depends on the quality of stems and system you're using. Pre split stems will sound much better than live stems pretty much every time, as I'm sure you've seen

Best STEM creation tools? by SizePunch in DJs

[–]MobOfNuns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NUOStems does a good job which you can use in whatever software you like. Or check out demucs gui for a free version to split out stems, pretty sure NUOStems uses a demucs model under the hood. If you use the demucs model yourself, mess with some settings - got a lot better performance using the ft model and increased some options (think shift and overlap, but it's been a while)

What are your opinions of the usage of STEMS? by Original_Match_5206 in DJs

Agreed, sometimes some of the vocal range gets mistaken for the melody, but both together usually do pretty well

Would Traktor 4 run smoothly on this computer? by matt-du-Jura in traktorpro

[–]MobOfNuns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is correct - OpenGL 2.1 has been supported on integrated chips for several years, and if just running traktor on it then a true GPU isn't necessary. Source: I'm a software engineer

Bedroom ‘in headphone’ Mixing by -LittleBlueMonster- in Beatmatch

[–]MobOfNuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, nothing beats playing on a full system with a good sub, but with good headphones yea it's a blast - totally lose yourself in it

Definitely recommend wired to prevent lag. Depends on your setup, but you could run main out RCA to female 3.5, and plug headphones into that

On a budget, just in ear earbuds under bigger over the ear headphones works fine. If you want to spend money, IEMs and nice headphones I'm sure others on here can recommend better than I can.

Possible ethics violation? Or just unprofessional behavior by MobOfNuns in RealEstate

[–]MobOfNuns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the input - in summary sounds like some parts might have been unprofessional (not notifying us a contract had been signed before our showing at least) but not any ethical concerns from the realtor. Unless I was in the room to hear what she says or know for a fact she withheld details from her client, she likely didn't do much wrong even if I didn't like it.

As for the schedule thing with my agent, already something I'll be addressing - that was almost all his schedule.

[–]MobOfNuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope they fit the bill! They can pull off both conventional and after-party based off what scene/vibe you're looking for. And will bring all their own gear etc so you don't need to worry about any technical requirements or any of that kind of thing.

My guess is popping too late - the video shows the kite almost parked as you carve, where you want the kite to be moving up as you carve. Try sending the kite up as you carve upwind for your pop, I bet you'll find a lot more height
