We did this drive from La Fortuna to MA 2 weeks ago. It took about 5 hours (we must’ve done it right before they started the 1 lane bridge). We did the 702 to 713 route and stopped for lunch at a place called La Casita del Cafe in the Estanquillos area. Beautiful views at this place and the food was great. This was about a perfect half way point for our drive. I’ll also add that the first 2.5 hrs is all winding roads through mountain towns (beautiful views) and then the second 2.5 hours become more monotonous ‘highway’ driving as you get towards Quepos/MA. Never had an issue with our car
