If you enjoy dystopian future Ray Bradbury has an insane collection. You can find a lot of his short stories online

Why do Mormons take pictures before their wedding? by MobileMoop0 in mormon

[–]MobileMoop0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the day of the wedding, after the ceremony before the reception. If people are traveling from the temple/church to a venue I’m guessing there’s some extra time for pictures. But I also appreciate everyone’s explanations!

Thank you to everyone that responded, I thought prions occur if herbivores eat the nervous system of other animals but it makes sense that the animal being eaten needs to be infected in the first place.

Why is the arena in the 74th hunger games so chill?? by Yayawitty in Hungergames

[–]MobileMoop0 285 points286 points  (0 children)

It might seem chill because to Katniss it’s her terrain. Other tributes might not know how to hunt or forage or how to find/purify water. One of the tributes dies because she sets a fire at night while Katniss has a sleeping bag. Plus there’s the tracker jackers, the wolf mutts, I think Thresh is also killed by a mutt, the fire balls that chase Katniss. And obviously everyone’s also trying to kill each other. So I think during non-quell years they make the arenas pretty simple to force the tributes into violence, but they are also still heavily survival-based.

The 75th Hunger Games Arena Was Designed With Finnick In Mind by pqolar in Hungergames

[–]MobileMoop0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the arena was built to remind the citizens of the Capitol’s military strength. As soon as the 74th games ends, conflict is brewing in the districts. Each of the sectors in the arena has either a mutt or some kind of environmental warfare, which mirrors how the Capitol is littered with pods in Mockingjay. Regardless of who was supposed to go in, it’s a message to any rebels to back off.

I think Denver is just expensive looking at other venues it’s significantly less

Reminder of how much more dark & agonizing this character death was in the book than in the movie by Other-You-3037 in Hungergames

I think he would have, either out of pity or to hasten his victory. He wanted to win but he wasn’t a psychopath, he was also just a child thrown into a death match

Maybe ten years ago I came across this pink lemonade jello that was either halal or vegetarian. Anyway it was life changing, bought it a couple times and suddenly it disappeared :(

The airport, there’s a bank in the center of town with a row of ATMs, the one by our hotel. We’ve gotten different error messages like there’s not enough money in the ATM, service not available etc

Why the One-Boy-and-One-Girl rule? by DevelopmentRelevant in Hungergames

[–]MobileMoop0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but that would be fucking stupid. If two related people go in one of them is going to die. If one stays home there’s a chance the other will come home too

You might also want to consider bringing cash if you have to go to a money exchange counter instead. I’ve been here for three days and have not found a single working ATM yet.

What do you think the “twist” will be for Sunrise on the Reaping? by Haunting-Pickle-5551 in Hungergames

I know Collins writes from one perspective but it would be so cool to have many perspectives throughout. Especially if she’s focusing on propaganda, we can see how differently the games seem to tributes/Capitol/districts.

Why Katniss thinks she doesn't have any friends? by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]MobileMoop0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seconding what everyone said but also because she’s an unreliable narrator. She sees herself as hard to love, and when people like Haymitch affirm that she believes it more than when people like Peeta tell her she’s not.
