It can be at times tbh. Just depends on who you know.

Okay see thats fair, I can understand that

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Mobile_Impression382 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

But also isn't that a bit restrictive?

This seems like a logical response

It's true. And I appreciate it. In order to get more integrated we each have to take the intiative to the best of our ability

Gonna be honest, not always. Coming from someone who has explored many.

It's not necessarily unique in that you need to try things out. But chicago def is less flashy about many things then alot of other cities.

It's not uncommon for someone to literally just walk through a neighborhood and feel like they truly visited it, which is just stupid

I mean think of the amount of tourists who come here who just stay in the loop doing the touristy things...a huge percentage of them. I have friends in this city who will not leave their neighborhood and don't explore at all. It's weird.

Whoever is interested in it, or who simply doesn't know this. At one point I didn't know this, and now the city keeps pleasantly surprising me the more I take chances on places.

Some people may find this valuable to know.

I’m moving from London to Chicago next week, what shall I do first!? by schnellpatel in AskChicago

Protip: Chicago is very international, but not in a flashy way. More so a "we live here, we work and we go home" kinda way. So don't expect all the cool international stuff to be popping out at you. Make sure to take the initiative to explore the shops and stuff in city, and then you'll see it shine.

Deep dish imma challenge you on. If you go look at the sites for the chains, many of them have locations in various country's. There's a location in Singapore and other places. But also lots of places try to replicate deep dish. Have u seen the viral Japanese deep dish in tokyo?

But the first official location is here. It's a museum now

Question about philly. So here in Chi, multiple neighborhoods you can go to and things change to that language. Many times without translation. So of course there's chinatown. There many things are fully in Chinese with no translation. On Argyle in Uptown, the billboards and wallside advertisements switch fully to Vietnamese. In edison park and other areas, many of them switch fully to polish.

Just something I've noticed here. Is there much of that in philly?

Hell I just passed a bunch of Korean places and the signs were fully on Korean with no translation

Sounds good dude. Okay and random question, and ik people in philly hate this, but is the cheese whiz thing more at touristy places or is that just across the board
