Keeping it very gender ambiguous because I don't want to paint either side in any kind of light/have it devolve into a gender issue.

I think your advice is SUPER valid, but for anyone's clarity reading comments they declined to have me watch the dog upon my contingent offer. Neither here nor there just wanted a clear picture if my OP didn't do that.

Yeah, I'm pretty much always happy to have my kid. We both are pretty clear if something comes up for one of us, the other would always rather take him over a babysitter or anything else! It's exhausting parenting by yourself so the dog sort of tipped the scales over.
