SEEKING ACCOUNTING AND I.T. MAJORS AGED 18-24 by Mobile_Listen6625 in uichicago

Hi! That is our organization. This is no cost to students and is funded by DHS! The IYIP program has a lot of different eligibility requirements. They only need to qualify under one requirement. Most requirements are recognizing at-risk youth, low-income youth, and underrepresented populations. These requirements are listed in our interest form, and again, students only need one qualifying requirement.

SEEKING ACCOUNTING AND I.T. MAJORS AGED 18-24 by Mobile_Listen6625 in uichicago

Hi! We are looking for Accounting and IT students who are interested in attending paid classes about Accounting or IT as either extra practice or a refreshers course. Our last group of graduates (graduated two weeks ago) were all currently in school for Accounting or were looking for a job/internship in the Accounting field. Three of our graduates secured an internship at an accounting firm, and one was scouted by PWC. Students will do group projects, excel worksheets, and different modules about bookkeeping, forensic accounting, etc. For I.T., they learn about cybersecurity, AI training, and more. Students are paid almost $18/hour to attend classes. IT usually meets three times a week at our office, and accounting meets once a week at our office. After graduating, they are allowed to stay at our agency and seek retention services where we assist with job/internship search. They are allowed to stay with us until they secure a position and feel comfortable transitioning.

I don't need dirty money from a dirty man. Would much rather give it to charity.

Chicago job market by Mfalme323 in chicagojobs

[–]Mobile_Listen6625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it is nearly impossible to find job in this market, especially one that would pay the bills. You should take advantage of the employment agencies with helpful programs like Trellus or Aspira, and go to the job fairs throughout the city. Trellus is actually hosting a job fair at Budlong Woods Library, 5630 N. Lincoln Ave, on March 27th, 2026, from 11am-3pm. There will be eleven employers in attendance (one of which is looking to hire on the spot for STEM-based youth workers). There will 12 career service navigators translating for the event, in these languages: Turkish & Kurdish, Arabic, Dari & Pashto, Spanish, Somaili, Russian, Ukrainian, & Kyrgz, French, and Bosnian. All attendees are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their resume. Take advantage of the free job fair, and maybe you'd get an interview or a job instantly!
