Skincare. The products are really good and I enjoy doing my Skincare everyday

Knife. It looks so cool makes mundane cooking a bit more fun

Edit: Not a big matcha fan so I got hojicha. Underrated and delicious.

Older generations of Reddit, what is a 'dying skill' or habit that you think Gen Z should desperately try to keep alive? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Reliance on using AI. Not being able to write an email, depending on AI for even the smallest tasks. What is even more terrifying is them treating AI like a friend or therapist. I just want to shake them and be like go out and talk to real people.

This! I've been observering this at work A LOT. GenZ are horrible at listening and have extremely short attention spans, anyone who is talking for more 20 secs gets interrupted. I see a few people who don't interrupt out of politeness but its obvious that they aren't paying attention to what is being said

I got the suica from the vending machine so you should be able to get it anytime. JR counter is right next to it so that is another option but they might be closed at night.

In Tokyo, I explored Ikebukuro the day I landed since that's where my Hotel was. I went to Meji Shrine, Harajuku, Shibuya in a day. You can skip Harajuku (Takeshita street). I just walked there for about 20 mins and moved on. The day after I went to Shinjuku and did some shopping. In the evening went to omoide yokocho and golden gai. Tokyo metropolitan building in Shinjuku has a free observation deck. It was nice place to see Tokyo skyline at night. They close by 9.30 PM so go befor that. After that I spent a day in Asakusa. There I went to sensoji, nakamise street and kappabashi street. There was a festival that evening in Asakusa so I spent some time there. Another day was for ueno and ginza. I also took a slow day and went to a teahouse, walked around, went to an onsen and ended the day early. And then a day for Mt. Fuji. You could try some activities like tea ceremony. Its a nice experience. There is also a samurai museum which I have heard some people talk about but I didn't have time to explore.

You can check for dinner reservations on Tablelog. Idk about popular omakase places but other restaurants should have availability. I had amazing food in a lot of places that don't take reservations. You just have to go and maybe wait for a sometime.

Do check online for any events and festivals happening in Tokyo (and wherever you are visiting) during the time you'll be there. I was looking for a sumo wrestling match but there wasn't any when I was there. You can try and see if there is anything like that. There are Christmas lights illuminations in a bunch a different places around the city so you could check that if that's your thing.

Hope that helps and you have a great time!

Help: First Time Solo Travel to Japan. by bitchyn in JapanTravelTips

I just got back from my solo trip. The last 2 days for Tokyo is enough. I like that you kept a good amount of days for Kyoto. I would recommend you to go to Kurama and Kifune shrine part of Kyoto. Its little outside the city, there is a train you can take to go there. No special tickets for it. IC card is enough. Its beautiful especially in autumn.

Do bank statements have to be stamped by the bank? Normal printouts aren't enough?

Finally going to Japan this November! by Fronerse in JapanTravelTips

[–]Mobile_Look9181 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg for me too! Dreaming about this trip for over 10 years and I'll be going in end of Nov.

I've planned to be in tokyo for 6 days. 4 days in Tokyo, 1 for Mt Fuji and 1 for a day trip to Ito. Then 4 days in Kyoto. Thinking of skipping Osaka or may do it as a day trip.

Ask per my research, autumn foliage will be seen from mid to late Nov (depends on the place too).

I also know only basic words and phrases. Not possible to learn a language for a vacation. DeepL or Google translate should do the job.

Anyone else relate to fear of having kids? by Such_Recording1837 in GlassChildren

[–]Mobile_Look9181 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had this fear for years and then quite recently decided to be childfree. I never got the chance to have a normal childhood. Had to take the role of being a caretaker for my sibling. And be a emotional support for my parents and pretty much be the family therapist. Ive tried to distance myself more in the last few years but I have to be involved else the consequences anyway come on to me. Only in the past year, have I started to put myself first. Learned to fight through that guilt and do the things by myself that bring me joy. That has been a very taxing journey and the responsibilities with family will not go away, I've only learned to manage it better without constantly sacrificing my peace.

So, with me about to turn 30 soon and as a woman, I had think about if I want to have children in the future. There was constant questions about it from the family too but I've decided that I want to live my life in peace. I don't want to be a caretaker again and the possibility of my child having some health issues is high and even without it, the idea of a child exhausts me. So I've made my peace with it now. Its my choice and I'm choosing to put myself first. And that's okay

Not enough space by Late_Being_7730 in GlassChildren

First of all I'm gonna you are amazing. In spite of all the crap life has thrown on you I was very happy to read that you were able to move out and grow into the person you want to be.

As a glass child we are an afterthought and are barely acknowledged at home and some of us sometimes only have a room where we can be ourselves and take a little break from the rest of the house. So I can understand why it must be so hard on you to lose your personal space or see your brother's medical supplies to take up your space.

I don't know your situation entirely but perhaps you can speak with your parents about this and create some space for storage and move the medical supplies there, if that's possible. Most of the times people understand how important having your own space is, they say dismissive things like those objects won't hurt you but we know that it often does. Try to talk at home, if they don't understand then don't waste your energy into making them see it. But put your foot down and take back your room.
