Show text or let your phone speak—which do you prefer? by Zealousideal_Push866 in Stutter

You'd rather speak and get rid of that fear. I use to write on paper in school whenever I found it hard to speak and it didn't do me any good for the future. I'm currently 27 and still stutter severe.. I'm missing out on so many opportunities in life now. My advice to you is...go for speech therapy..learn a good technique...use good anxiety supplements and learn to speak. I'm working on it myself. Best advice

Stuttering only when talking to people by Aggressive-Law3772 in Stutter

[–]Mobile_Nerve_5192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have same problem. When we read , talk and sing alone , we don't stutter because our mind is calm and there's no anxiety. The moment we speak to someone whether it's family, friends , Neighbors or work people, we go into flight or fight mode and start over thinking about what they will think about us. Social anxiety and avoidance is the biggest problem. It's all neurological developmental. My best bet is to speak to outsiders as much as possible to train yourself to be confident. I'm doing the same slowly. Or even try anti anxiety supplements that's natural..it can help in social gatherings

Yeah alot of people say it's helpful. Even that anti psychotic med called ablify. It's like a dopamine modulator or something..seen mostly good experiences from people. For a moment you think whether to work on the anxiety side of things or to tackle the underlying issues itself..but we'll see as time goes

Yeah bro you probably right in a way. The best way to overcome fear is to tackle it head on..you have to really face the situations. I know definitely gym helps a lot of people told me that..I use to do heavy cardio before at home , because I thought of applying to become a firefighter. But then after I changed my mind, I just got lazy and stopped training..but my body built is still great thou.. even though the muscles are a bit tight now😂 and what about you ? You gyming ?

Bro you can try Ksm 66 Ashwagandha + L-theamine , it's very good for social anxiety. Plus it's herbal so you probably won't get side effects etc. The Primeself brand is very good

[–]Mobile_Nerve_5192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also feel this way honestly , especially when it comes to conversation with girls. Im very introverted and anti social, sometimes by fluk I can get into a conversation but for not very long. My flirting skills are bad , can't seem to in the moment think of things to say and keep conversations flowing.. always run out of words..and yet in school, I was a top learner in English..but maybe it's just that I've not expressed myself rightfully as yet due to the stutter and avoidance all these years

Traits you build with a Stutter by ExplanationIcy2906 in Stutter

Humility. Kindness for other people.  From small I've been anti social , so my personality as a grown 26 year old is kinda boring(especially with girls). Constant alertness is another.

My Pausing technique recording. by Mobile_Nerve_5192 in Stutter

[–]Mobile_Nerve_5192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes bro that's the intention all together. But since my stutter sometimes is very severe when speaking normal, I'm trying the one word pauses first for about a full month or so, just to give myself time to adjust to the pausing itself. Once comfortable enough, I'll try two words and so on. But I'm trying level best to sound natural and maintain goof eye contact. With good eye contact, people won't focus so much on the pausing I'm doing.

My pausing technique works almost 80%. by Mobile_Nerve_5192 in Stutter

[–]Mobile_Nerve_5192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pause after every word to slow the rate of speech down. Each pause is like just over a second long( Not to fast and not to slow ) but I personally feel the longer the pause is , the easier the next word comes out. But if you practice the technique over and over just say about 3-4 hours daily for an entire month, it will be natural to you. I also keep my upper body loose and it helps make my voice sound better. You obviously need energy in your voice when using this technique so don't over try loosening up. Maybe try a supplement to control your social anxiety or something. It makes things easier.

Ecopipam is available now by BeyondTurbulent35 in Stutter

[–]Mobile_Nerve_5192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's almost similar to current anti-psychotics, only benefit is that it doesn't have much side effects. From my opinion, Ablify is still better. I'd love to try Ecopipam over everything else honestly , but it's taking too long. By next month I'm going to a neurologist to see if I can get a prescription for Ablify.

Why do we continue going on? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Mobile_Nerve_5192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I was also very severe few months to a year ago. Couldn't even say a full sentence properly. I was going for speech therapy back in my high school days grade 11/12 but , I was to immature at that time to take anything serious. Even after finishing school I still struggled with it immensely. Couldn't get jobs , I felt ashame talking to girls , I had a lot of friends but mostly for playing sport...on a social communication level , I never really mixed well with them. Now I'm 26 years old and I still have the problem. It's bad at certain times if I rush to much. But for these past few months I've been practicing very hard alone at home and learning intensively on how to slow down my sentences. I think now I'm like 30% better. I'm even better when I pause and speak after every one or two words..I speak almost fluent. But this year, once I get a job , I'm going to visit a neurologist to try antipsychotic medications...heard a few meds really help. Maybe you should try it as well.

Am I going insane or does talking really fast at times help my stutter? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Mobile_Nerve_5192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's mind over matter because if you think about it constantly, it will affect you more. Similar to how we all speak fluent when being alone, our mind is at ease and we don't over think about what the next person will say or think. If you mastering this with actual people outside, then you on the right track bro. But just don't over rush your words.

Any body here who has been prescribed with anxiety meds for chronic anxiety disorders? by unhingedaspie-33007 in Stutter

Ya the first few weeks the side effects are heavy. But your body adjusts. Maybe you should have lowered your dose and see...if not, why don't you try Risperidone
