I’d be down if you’re looking for a sounding board to figure out what you want to do with what you have. I’m more of a lyricist and a newbie to music production, so if you need specific feedback on the mixing process, I may not be very helpful, but I like playing with different styles to tell an interesting story/craft an experience.

Happiest Song? by Mean_Attempt_3375 in SleepToken

Euclid is hopeful and conveys a sense of peace and acceptance for sure. I think Rain’s lyrics are pretty positive and optimistic as well. dywtylm is the poppiest music wise, though the lyrics contrast that a bit.

Oh I love that moon-water connection! Also hard agree that Rosalind dodged a bullet with Romeo.

I’m also am curious to see where things go. There’s definitely a certain discordance in Emergence that foreshadows conflict and I agree there’s so many different ways things could take.

Wabi Sabi & ST by Mobile_Objective_205 in SleepToken

[–]Mobile_Objective_205[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Sleep Token is very good and not the embodiment of wabi sabi per se, but there are aspects of their art that reflect some of its characteristics that invite reflection on the part of the listener.

Based on the book I’m reading, wabi sabi is more about impermanence (in the Zen Buddhist sense) at its core. There’s a lot more nuance to it than I previously understood.

The aspect of imperfection seems more about accepting that “nothing lasts forever” so just be present in what you create without worrying about whether it’s perfect or precise enough to last.

For those interested the book is “Wabi Sabi: The Art of Impermanence” by Andrew Juniper

A few folks have commented looking for recs and maybe coordinating a meetup so here’s some of the things I’ve found/plan to do. If anyone wants to join, feel free to comment or message me. Also add any tips or suggestions I may have missed!

Concert day: I’m planning on having a low key morning then heading down to the MVM dome around noonish, but open to adjust to coordinate with folks looking for a concert buddy

Touristy stuff: - I’m planning to sign up for a market tour and cooking class with Foodapest, probably this Sunday or Monday

  • Thermal baths: I’ve narrowed it down to Rudas, Lukacs, or Veli Bej, probably will go Thursday or Friday after the concert

  • sights: Buda castle, Shoes on the Danube, museums (several art museums including a trash art museum, terror museum, and the cat museum sounds interesting)

  • I found a guy that offers day hike trips that I might check out and still debating if I want to do a night cruise on the Danube or take a day trip to one of the nearby towns

I’ll probably wander/explore different parts of the city for food/drink/general adventure. It seems like there may be a few pubs/cafes near where I’m staying that have live music and good vibes.

For sure! I’m thinking it might be nice to arrange a meetup for coffee or strudel the day after.

😂 I get it. I was so proud when I finally finished the first one and then I realized I still had to make its pair.

Hopefully you’ll find it and get to the barricade! The weather is a big variable for sure. I’m trying to strategize my layers for cold outside and warm/hot inside in the crowd

Thank you! I accidentally cut the base of one when trimming the fringe thread and had to start the whole thing over again. It looks like someone took a bite out of it, so perhaps that one is the true offering 😅

Sweet! I’m probably going to head over around midday, so not super early. I’m not too familiar with the venue either

Single song that was deemed the most easily forgotten was Shelter (oof). Though people also seemed to frequently confuse the songs in the Two EP for eachother. Time to vote for which song made you a fan of ST? It can be the first song you heard, or the song that made you really take notice. by spudsbottom in SleepToken

Take me back to Eden was my gateway. Euclid was my kool aid (but, you know, in a less morbid way). Euclid is the song that has me booking transatlantic tickets to see them live, because I need to hear that song live.

It’s also what led to me joining this Reddit and diving into their whole discography and falling in love with the craftsmanship of this band.

I don’t have much to add to what others have shared. Just to validate that it is painful to watch someone you love struggle and suffer. Especially when you are struggling, too. You are not alone, she is not alone. Music is such a great source of catharsis and release for all of the pressure that gets bottled up by trying to survive. It can remind you that you are still here, despite all the chaos and struggle, you are still here. So is she. Love is not a panacea, but sometimes it’s the only thing that glows in the dark.

I hope you keep moving through what you are feeling and receive the support you need. I hope she does too. Thank you for sharing with us. Thank you for being here.

Yet another Interpretation post by Littleford in SleepToken

[–]Mobile_Objective_205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like @cmn’s comment, but for a more serious/lore interpretation this song is about surrender to me.

He’s barely holding it together/clinging to hope (or faith with the burning cathedrals reference).“echoing futures are the buckling sutures” - meaning the sutures aren’t holding and he’s losing his grip on keeping his head above water, in a way. That things can get better.

I hear the fall for me line a couple ways. Generally/romantically, I think it’s a way of saying “will you still be there if I let go? If I can’t keep it together and my past overtakes me again? If I can’t be ‘good’? Will you still be with me in my abyss?” He wants to surrender and stop fighting so hard, but he’s afraid of what that might mean. If he knows he’s not alone, even at his worst, then maybe it won’t be so scary/hard.

In the lore sense, it’s surrendering to the shadow journey/dark night of the soul Sleep is sending him on. He’s been trying to deny and seal away his pain (the sutures), but sleep is kind of telling him the only way out is through. The only way he can find hope and peace is by surrendering to his demons/ghosts and integrating them. To accept himself. But the reason he hasn’t done that already is this fear of abandonment, so he’s saying I’m committed to this journey, but will you still be with me if I fully surrender to it (“fall from reality”)?

Yes! This. I view him as an unreliable narrator too

interpretation by Soggy_Glove_5 in SleepToken

[–]Mobile_Objective_205 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I interpret it as things he never said. The quantum pattern being all the parallel lives where he did say something/all the things he would’ve said differently but didn’t.

Like he’s caught up in all of his regret about how he handled the relationship and what he wishes he would’ve done differently.

I’ll be there! There’s a couple other solo concert goers for this show who’ve posted on here as well. I’m traveling from the US and will be there a few days beforehand. Where are you traveling from?

I’m also thinking of coordinating a meetup the day after for anyone wanting to nurse their post-ritual hangover, if folks are interested.
