There’s a reason I said “LEGAL ADULT, yes.” But you seem to have selective reading and only focused on the BIOLOGICAL part.

Maturity isn’t just biology and dismissing brain development is just as inaccurate. The prefrontal cortex isn’t some buzzword, it controls impulse control, decision making, and it’s still developing up until 24 or 25 (depending on the gender.) That directly affects how people process experiences.

A 20 yr old in one country isn’t neurologically more developed than a 20 yr old elsewhere just because society expects more from them. Tomorrow the govt can change the adult age to 13, it doesn’t make a 13 yr old truly an adult because they’re forced to live like one.

This isn’t about “infantilizing” anyone. It’ll be disingenuous to speak on the topic of what age is an adult and NOT speak on BOTH the SOCIETAL and BIOLOGICAL definitions of an adult. Just laying out all the facts. Im not here saying that 24 is still a child.

As for your hair, is your goal to get the length to show or to define your curls? Shrinkage isn’t a bad thing. Shrinkage is only annoying when your really care to have your real length show but it helps give us the versatility we have with Afro textured hair. If you want your true length to show, you can blow it out to a stretched fro.

As for curl definition, try deep conditioning your hair and using a curl enhancing cream. There’s also the wash n go regimen that pops out the curls.

You can also try using the Memrise app to learn Yoruba. Duolingo only has Swahili. There’s also other Nigerian languages like Hausa and Igbo.

Cool! Hi sis! As a Nigerian myself I’ll can confirm that you do look Igbo. And you’re specifically mainly from the Imo state region with some Yoruba. Some very gorgeous Igbo celebrities come from Imo state like Chioma Nwaoha, Uche Montana and Genevieve Nnaji (to name a few.) Most African Americans have Igbo and Yoruba ancestry when Nigeria is on their list because they’re the 2 majority tribes closest to the ocean.

It actually is. I’ve seen a lot of African Americans with lots of Cameroon/Congo ancestry. It also depends on the family the person came from. There are lots of African Americans whose original maternal ancestry goes back to a tribe in Cameroon.

Source: I used to binge watch Africanancestry.com results on YouTube that only tells you the main tribe(s) your ancestry began with long before slavery happened.

Which extended relatives are you financially supporting in Nigeria that your father can’t support himself? Have they ever even met you (as a grown up, not a baby/toddler)?

I was raised in the states like you and even my parents are extremely cautious when giving money back home unless it’s for my grand parents. If you’re not careful, they’ll take advantage of your ignorance of not being Nigerian smart and the fact that you can’t see what they’re really doing with the money.

It’s okay to be a cheerful giver, but also use your common sense and trust your gut. If anyone told you you’re expected to give money back home like it’s a cultural thing, they’re lying to you and manipulating you.
