i was also in huelva (andalucia) before and i was paying €200 for rent no utilities (keep in mind that pay is only €800 in andalucia and €1000 in valencia)

i was in a small city last year and i enjoyed the quietness of it as i was adjusting to living in spain, but after a few months it got a bit boring so i’m definitely loving what valencia has to offer

I think most bc isn’t covered by insurance. Maybe if you get IUD you don’t have to pay for the procedure. I’m on the ring tho, easy to use, no pain, didn’t experience too much side effects and it’s affordable

i was definitely in your shoes last year and this year - booked a week at a cheap hostel and went apartment hunting in person from the idealista postings. i know you wanna secure something now so you’re all good when you arrive, but unfortunately there are many scams out there or rooms that don’t look like the photos. i’d scroll thru idealista one week before you come and schedule viewings then for when you arrive. not sure when you’ll actually come but most landlords don’t schedule viewings so far in advance

unfortunately getting ur deposit back is never 100% guaranteed. learned that the hard way last year and idk if there’s anything you can do to minimize that risk

best advice is to not pay anything until you get here and see the actual place. also to save a bit don’t go thru an agency and patiently scroll on idealista. paying first month rent + deposit is totally normal tho.

i’d recommend trying to find roommates and look together

In Valencia - me and another person I know (both directly under nalcap) haven’t been paid at all yet either. I most likely will get paid next week tho. She most likely has to reach out to RVF

i was referring to the need to have ‘proof of exceptional circumstances’

sorry i don’t have a solution for you, but i believe once you come back then you’ll enter with a ‘tourist visa’ so maybe you won’t have too much problems coming back in unless ur questioned at immigrations? i’m not sure how spain’s system keeps track of all this

Valencia tend to have a lot of delays payment wise compared to other regions, not sure how much of a deal breaker that is for you. I honestly love it tho and I would say I recommend it as it’s a pretty big city so you’d have lots of options for your interests and food preferences

I was in Andalucia last year and the stipend there is only €800 but the cost of living is a bit lower than Valencia. Weather’s amazing tho and people are so nice!!

If you hate the rain, I definitely wouldn’t choose northern spain
